This document provides an overview of servicing the Ricoh Pro C Range and Office version MP C8002/8003 MFPs. It discusses common issues such as toner supply, ITB cleaning unit, fuser and web unit replacement. Minimum call procedures are outlined which include vacuuming, checking life of units, and addressing jams or quality issues. Comparisons are made between the Pro and Office versions, noting differences in features, part yields and numbers.

4. Service
Manuals
• As with any machine, download
and follow the service manual for
the step-by-step instructionson
specific unit replacement.
7. Before removing
any units make
sure the
machine is
switched off
For unit/part replacement, please
follow the service manual as there
are certain procedures to follow/run
8. Toner Supply
Open the toner door, 2 screws either side,
in yellow,1 screw for the fan and behind
this 1 screw for the hopper lower part in
red. Pull the hopper out.
2 rail screws either side, in blue.
9. PCDU removal
The transfer lever rotates anti-clockwise
The faceplateis then removed, 7 or 8
screws (indicatedon the pro machines
with purple/white arrow sticker)
10. Once the hopper and faceplateare out of the
way, all the PCDU'S can be seen/removed.
The purple catch on each PCDU pushes down,
and the PCDU pullsout.
Behind each machine there is usuallya
rectangle tray for the PCDU to sit on, this keeps
the drum surface raised so it doesn't get
damaged
11. Charge roller
• Once the PCDU is out, the charge roller is
located on top and can be removed, 2 screws
either side
12. Cleaning Unit
• 3 screws and faceplate on the
left
• 1 screw and bracket on the right
• Metal strip removed pulling to
the right
• 1 connector on the right
• The cleaning unit will angle out,
away from the drum
13. • 2 screws to remove the apply blade shown
in red
• 2 screws to remove the metal cover
• The lube bar is located here for
replacement
• Note, the black plastic covers can be
removed as well to show the sensor and
contacts – these contacts sometimes stick
and will still show the messageto replace
cleaning unit
14. Drum
• The drum is pushed to the left
(spring loaded) and then lifted out
from the right and pulled away from
the unit
• This will leave the developer
section for cleaning or replacement
15. Developer
• The top filter can be taken off, and also the 3 screws
and cover for the mag roller
• Unlike the Baron, this dev is tipped out, twisted, and
then twisted more, vacced and twisted … keep
twisting and vaccing. There is a dev tool for this. Get
as much of the developer out as possible
• Do not remove the screws frontand rear of the
unit
Now that the charge, cleaning unit and drum have been
taken off, this leaves just the dev unit and frame.
16. Adding New
Developer
• The PCDU can be rebuilt once everything
has been vacced and cleaned.
• Followthe procedures for SP modes in
the service manual.
• The faceplate can be attached, close the
main drawer and switch the machine on.
• Attach the dev fill tool as shown, empty
the bag of dev whilstrunning SP3024-XX
17. Transfer Cleaning Unit
• Rotate the purple lever and unscrew the cleaning
unit (yellow circle) and pull out
• Note there is no additional side catch as with the
Baron
18. • The seal at the front keeps the
waste toner from droppingon to the
paper.
• This occasionally needs replacing
(2 parts – adhesive strip and the
rubber mylar).
• Caused by vaccing out and it sags
in the middle and toner overflows
19. Image Transfer
Belt
• With the toner hopper and
faceplate removed, take out the
bracket on the right (3 screws)
• Pull the ITB out holding on to
the metal frame of the unit
• Stand it up on its end (the rear
part in the machine goes on the
floor)
• Refer to the service manual for
replacement of the belt and
components
20. Fuser & Web
• Open fully the main drawer
(push in the metal catches on
each rail)
• Remove the front cover of
the drawer – 2 screws left, 3
screws other right, 1 screw
centre on top and 1 screw
underneath by the duplex tray
• 1 screw for the heat pipe
cover, lift forward
• 2 screws for the fuser unit at
the front
21. • Open the exit guide and lift out the fuser
unit.
• The heat pipe will need to be removed (2
screws – front & rear)
• The fuser web is located under this
• Refer to the service manual for fuser parts
replacement
22. • The web can now be removed by releasing
the purple catch (yellow arrow) and rotating
the web forwards, pull out.
Again, the web is like other Ricoh devices but it's
replaced in very much the same way.
Keep things in order as you take them off and
there is step-by-step guide in the manual
23. The heat roller lugs wear
and the roller simply spins.
It is a costly replacement.
Also what can cause it is
the rotationsensor as
shown.
Heat roller - SC548
24. Registration
• The reg unit can be completelyremoved, detailedin the manual
• There are variousmylarsthat do wear down and cause jams. Visuallycheck
each visit
• Regularly remove the top cover (yellow - 2 screws) and vac out the dust
collection.
25. Duplex, Invertor and Exit
Unit
• The duplexunit passes underneaththe
main drawer like the Baron
• The exit & invertorare locatedto the
left, variouscovers/rollersneed cleaning.
• The grey sponge rollers under the
upper & side covers do wear down and
cause jams – these need replacing from
time to time (8 on top and 8 on the side)
26. Boards
Item Description

2 Combined high voltage power supply board KC
3 Potentialsensor board
4 Controllerboard
5 HDD
6 PSU2
7 PSU1
8 AC drive board
9 IH Invertor
10 PFB
11 IOB
12 BICU
27. Laser Unit
• The scanner unit needs
removing in order to take out the
laser unit
• The laser scanner can be
cleaned underneath just above
where the drums sit
• The laser cleaner stick does not
actually reach the glass so it is
worth cleaning the laser glass
when the PCDUs are removed for
servicing
29. Paper Feeds
• The tray is removed same as
other Ricoh devices with a tandem
tray
• The feeds are the same as Ricoh
MP C3003 (metis) range
• There is a bulletin for J003 on
this machine which refers to the
base plate on the RHS – this needs
to be level
• Please see separate tech
bulletin for this RD137187
30. PTR & Cleaning
unit
• 2 screws for the exit guide plate and release the white stoppers(both on
the transport belt side)
• The paper transfer unit can be lifted out, variouscomponentsreplaced such
as blades and roller/belt.
• The earlier model uses a transfer roller.
• The newer models use a transfer belt as pictured.
31. Transport Belt
• For jam clearing, the blue lever at the front will
need to be opened/closed
The paper transport belt is the same as the Baron. It simply transports the paper from the transfer area to the
fuser. The belt will need cleaning from time to time as it can get toner on which transfers to the page. The
sensor is locatedin the middle (A)
32. Firmware
• Firmware updatedas every other Ricoh, via SD card.
• Individual filesin the folder ROMDATA
• Package firmware file as PKG (name folder package)
• Some newer versionsof individualfiles may not in the
package update
33. Main
Issues
• J003 – could be worn feeds or
base plate not level(bulletin)
• PM call – replace cleaning unit.
Check others as well. Usually
will replace 3 colourdrum
cleaning unitsat same time.
• SC548 – heat roller lugs break so
the roller just spins. Thiscan
also be just the sensor arm as
shown earlier to strip and clean.
The heat roller on its own is
about £900
