Skills
CATIA V5
CATIA V5 is a designing software used in the aerospace and automotive
industry. Designing mechanical parts and aircraft components and creating
technical drawings with dimensions and tolerances on CATIA software. I am
also familiar with Auto Cad.
MATLAB And SIMULINK
Extensive use of MATLAB software and SIMULINK to model and simulate the
performance of mechanical systems and modify the performance using
feedback and simple controllers.
Machining
Using tools in the university machine shop such as the milling machine and
lathe machine.
Fabrication
Fabrication of a steel tool box using the facilities provided by the university.
Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Machine
Using absolute and incremental programming methods on a computer
numeric control machine to create patters and designs.
Final Year Group Design Project
This project was to design a fire fighting aircraft that should meet a certain
criteria and CS-25 standards. Different aircraft engineering aspects were
assigned to individual members of the group of eight students in one group. I
was responsible for the “stability and control” of aircraft, which required to
determine aircraft stability factors such as aircraft centre of gravity, pitching
moment of inertia, determine the aircraft control surfaces sizes which
includes flaps, ailerons, horizontal and vertical stabiliser, rudder, wing sizing
calculations and positioning of wing and landing gear and other parameters
related to stability and control of aircraft.
3. Determining NACA profile for wing. Design the mentioned portions of aircraft
on CATIA software.
The results obtained from calculations were used in a Merlin flight simulator
to check the flying characteristics of the aircraft.
Final Year Individual Project
Individual project for final year was to write a thesis. My chosen topic was
“Implications of UAV integration into non-segregated airspace”.
