5. Two Areas of Consciousness
1.Waking Consciousness
Mental state encompasses the
thoughts, feelings and perceptions that
occur when we are awake and
reasonably alert.

Also called Altered State of Mind ,
is any condition which is
significantly different from a
normal waking beta wave state.

Monitoring
A system when it has a central system that
monitors and coordinates the processes of the
whole system.
• Controlling
Is the awareness or experience of
seeming to be in control of one’s action .
10. Preconscious Memories
Information that is not currently in
consciousness but can be recalled to
unconsciousness voluntarily or after
something calls attention to them.
11. Unconscious Memory
Is a type of memory in which previous
experiences aid in the performance of a
task without conscious awareness of these
previous experiences.

13. REPRESSED
Is a condition where memory has
been blocked by an individual due
to the high level of stress or
trauma contained in that memory.
16. DISSOCIATION
Is term in psychology describing a
wide array of experiences form
mild detachment from immediate
surroundings to more severe
detachment from physical and
emotional experiences.
