Arts and Marketing Consultant Bio
Ms. Afrika Abney became an Arts and Marketing Consultant in 1997. She has
designed and implemented media campaigns for several individuals, small
businesses and nonprofit organizations, including the Malcolm X Dancers and
Drummers, Esther Productions, Inc., African American Women's Resource
Center, and Adams Morgan Day Festival. This involved identifying media
contacts; writing press releases and other publicity materials, including posters
and flyers; disseminating press kits; and interfacing with reporters and other
journalists. Disseminated flyers, press releases, designed and implemented
media campaigns for Esther Productions, Inc and Mr. Ralph Nader.
She has completed over 15 arts and marketing consultant projects. Some of them
include Adams Morgan Day 2010, National Daddy Daughter Reunion Tour, Building
Families in the 21st Century, The Gift, Daughters Speak Out, Sip, Paint and Reflect,
PaintSpiration: Reflect and Paint!, Spring Cleaning: Mind, Body and Spirit, The
Fatherless Daughters Speak Out, Breaking through Power, Kitchen Table Talks, Esther
Productions, Inc Butterfly Series, Esther Productions, Inc launched Personal Essay
Contest "Discovering Me..Without You", Inside Job: The Art of Personal Essay Writing
(Workshop for Teens), Inside Job: The Art of Personal Essay Writing (Workshop Sequel
for Teens), The Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers performances, Reconciliation Week,
Joy Jones' Double Dutch, and Writing Institute for Teens. Ms. Abney has provided arts
and marketing consulting services for Malcolm X Dancers and Drummers, Mr. Ralph
Nader, African American Women's Resource Center, and Adams Morgan Day Festival
were just to name a few.
