We seek to prepare our students for the 'real world' that exists around them as educators. We teach kids to read, write, and add and subtract. Then there are the less tangible skills we teach, such as how to operate in a group, think critically, and be curious about the things they come across on a daily basis.

4. We seek to prepare our students for the 'real world' that exists around them as educators. We teach kids to read, write,
and add and subtract. Then there are the less tangible skills we teach, such as how to operate in a group, think critically,
and be curious about the things they come across on a daily basis.
We want to ensure that when kids leave us and enter adulthood, they are prepared to live productive and successful lives.
But what does the future hold for our students? Did educators twenty years ago realize that computers and technology
would become so important in our lives? Could they have predicted what skills would be in demand today? Unlikely, but
they had no choice but to try their best to educate their kids for life in this world. Educators are still faced with the same
difficult challenge of preparing pupils for the unknown in today's world.
Harvard University's Tony Wagner researched the 7 survival skills needed in the twenty-first century. Hundreds of CEOs
from businesses, non-profits, and educational institutions were interviewed for this project. Their responses were used to
create a list of seven abilities that people will need to live and prosper in the twenty-first century.
We may not know exactly what lies ahead for our students in the future, but we do know what skills they will require once
they arrive. Here are the seven 21st-century survival skills, as well as an example of how they might be used in a
classroom.

5. 1.Critical
Thinking and
Problem Solving :
Students will need to practise
perceiving challenges from many
perspectives and coming up with their
own solutions. Regardless of the
industry in which they choose to work,
the capacity to think and respond
swiftly is a necessary skill for the
future. To practise this, teachers
should put students in situations
where they must figure things out for
themselves — circumstances where
abilities they have already gained can
be used to assist them solve a
problem.

6. 2.Collaboration
Across Networks and
Leading by Influence :
Understanding that not everyone is born with the
ability to lead.
The capacity to lead others, on the other hand, can
significantly aid a person's advancement and success
in their chosen field. Finding a career that does not
require you to work closely and happily with others can
also be challenging. More than just traditional
teamwork is required to best prepare pupils in this
area. Rather than merely forming a group and
assigning responsibilities to one another, students
should be encouraged to take on diverse roles within
their group for each project job.
They can be a manager,' a 'organizer,' or a 'graphic
designer,' depending on the situation. Students can
occupy a variety of roles with their peers during a
project, allowing them to engage with others in a more
collaborative manner than simply tearing apart a
project and putting it back together at the end.

7. 3.Agility and Adaptability
Preparation: If we go back twenty years, we can see
how much the workplace and the globe have
changed.
Our kids must be at ease with the concept of
change and willing to adapt to their surroundings.
Teachers may help kids prepare for the future by
creating a dynamic environment in the classroom.
Students can learn to adapt by varying the
instructional strategies we utilize, the classroom
arrangement, the ways students demonstrate
learning, and even the requirements for group work
or assignments.
For example, have students write a plot and then
surprise them with a mandatory piece to include, or
have them exchange jobs and finish a task
dependent on the preparations of another. They
may complain at first, but the abilities will come in
handy!

8. 4.Initiative and
Entrepreneurship
Preparation: Students must be able to work
independently and contribute to society. These
abilities should be encouraged in our classrooms
and society. We may ask our children for much
more than a list of classroom rules and
consequences since they can be tremendously
creative and engaged in creating their experience
in the classroom.
Let them know you're available and eager to hear
their suggestions for enhancing the classroom or
school. Even if an idea fails, assist them in
organizing and implementing their ideas. It can
be a useful lesson in analyzing what went wrong
and considering how to enhance the concept.
Students should never be reluctant to attempt
something because they are frightened of failing.

9. 5.Effective Oral
and Written
Communication
Preparation: Despite technological advancements, these
abilities remain vital. Consider a supervisor or manager
sending you a grammatically incorrect email or presenting a
new company strategy while speaking too quietly and reading
the entire presentation from a sheet of paper. What are your
genuine thoughts? Consider some of the most effective
communicators you've encountered: what makes them stand
out? We must train our students to talk clearly and confidently.
Enunciation, pace, volume, gestures, and eye contact are all
things that can be taught and learnt with practice. Oral
communication can benefit from the same abilities that help in
drama. Try teaching a class in an unsuccessful manner for a
day and observe how long it takes your pupils to inquire what
you're doing... They should be able to pinpoint exactly what's
wrong with your communication abilities!
In terms of written communication, we must continue to
highlight the rules while also teaching students how to use the
technologies at their disposal to proofread their work. The
distinction between formal and casual writing is crucial for
students to understand and implement.

10. 6.Accessing and
Analyzing
Information
Preparation: Today's students have unprecedented
access to information. The Internet is a fantastic
research tool that may either be their best friend or
their worst enemy. Accessing information is simple, but
getting good information is more difficult. Students
must be taught how to sift through the millions of web
pages accessible on a given topic to obtain the
information they require (and be able to trust what they
find). They must understand the distinction between
factual facts and factually sounding opinions.
Many students today use 'answer' websites to gain
information, not considering how the information was
prepared by someone who may or may not be correct or
actually skilled in a subject area. We can think-aloud
Internet searching tactics in the same manner that a
teacher may think-aloud reading strategies. Learn
about a topic with your students by projecting your
screen onto the board. Show them how to search and
how to avoid being deceived by those "answer" sites!

11. 7.Curiosity and
Imagination
Preparation: students come to us with a natural
curiosity about their surroundings and a desire to
learn more about them. Their imaginations are wild
and free, allowing them to create a limitless
number of practical and impractical items.
Job as educators is less about teaching children
how to be curious and inventive and more about
preventing them from losing that ability. We need
to keep encouraging them to develop these
abilities and teaching them how to use them
creatively and constructively. Consider a young boy
who enjoys the military and machines but despises
princesses.
How do you react when he shows you a freshly-
drawn picture of a soldier destroying a princess
with a robot-inspired weapon? Do you honor his
inventiveness in the same way you honor the
student next to him who drew a world-saving robot?
Is there a photo of him on the wall?
