3. INTRODUCTION
Drying is an essential process in the preservation
of agricultural products.
Drying in Openly has many problems.
Food products, especially fruits and vegetables
requiree hot air in the temperature range of 45–
60°C for safe drying.
Drying under controlled conditions of temperature
and humidity maintains the quality of agricultural
food products.
It also increases the life of food products.

4. WHAT IS SOLAR DRIER SYESTEM
Solar driers are devices that are used solar energy to dry
a substance specially foods product in controlled
condition.
When the solar radiation fall on the drier its surface gets
heated up and it also increases the temperature of the air
due to which the density of air is decreases and it moves
in upward direction and enters in the drier chamber.

6. NEED OF SOLAR DRIER SYESTEM
In rainy season and winters due to presence of
moisture a
bad odour develop in food grains and
there is full possibility of development of pests .
In seasoning of timber.
Dehydration of fruits and vegetables like, potato
,onions, etc.
Nutrition value of vegetables, diseases of
organism, can be maintained. 6
7. Limitations of Solar Drier
Its effectiveness depends on solar radiation.
The availability of solar radiation is limited.
The Heat gain is also limited
To overcome these problems
Thermal Energy storage system can be use with Solar
drier.

8. THERMAL ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM
There are numerous technologies for storing energy in
various forms including mechanical, electrical and
thermal energy .
Thermal energy can be stored in well- insulated fluids
or solids as a change in internal energy of a material as
sensible heat, latent heat and thermo-chemical or
combination of these.

13. ADVANTAGES
Less time is required for drying
Protection from bird’s,dog’s and insect’s
The food item is hygienic
Protection from dust, durt and rain particals
It Work on non-renewable source of energy
It consume less amount of energy.

14. FUTURE SCOPE
There is need to focus on continuous drying of
agricultural grains/food products at steady and moderate
temperature of 40–75 C.
This problem is addressed through an increase of the
surface area of heat transfer between the heat transfer
fluid (HTF) and the PCM.
By using one –five fold of effective thermal conductivity
of PCM The heat transfer rate increases.

15. CONCLUSION
The above discussion emphasizes the fact that the
advantage of solar dryer having heat storage
systems for drying of agricultural food products.
As drying energy plays an important role in
sustainable energy management in Indian as well as
worldwide, effective utilization of solar energy
holds the key to future’s non-exhaustive energy
source thereby reduce the time between energy
supply and energy demand.
