3. In the beginning, Sto. Domingo was just a small sitio, a
small unit of a community known as barrio. Palina was then
recognized as the mother barrio composed of other sitios: Sta.
Lucia; Palina West; Palina East; Palina Sur and Awed.
As the years passed by, the population of sitio Sto.
Domingo grew up and produced notable people who became
famous and well known not only in the local community but
also in the entire Urdaneta.
4. Sto. Domingo is located in the north of Poblacion, south
of Palina East, West of Nancayasan and east of Sta. Lucia and
Nancamaliran East. It has total land area of 233.95 hectares.
Based on barangay records 55% of total land area is used for
residential purposes and the remaining 45% is used for
agricultural purposes.
There are 7 puroks namely: Kinapudno, Kinalinteg,
Southern Star, Maharlika, Urduja, Liwliwa, and Dona Olimpia.
5. Sto. Domingo has a total population of 3,382 composed
of 1,671 male and 1,711 female from children to adult.
The total numbers of families in Sto. Domingo is 910.
6. The source of income of the barangay come from
farming, raising pigs, tinapa making, goat raising,
boarding houses, apartments, palay buying station and
others but must of the families’ source of income is
farming. Most of them are employed in private and
government offices and some are working abroad.
7. Sto.Domingo is also known to be the home of successful
entrepreneurs. Some known entrepreneurs in the barangay
are Mrs. Diana Carmelo, who owns the famous Diana’s
Delicacies, Mrs. Judith Naval, who owns Naval Construction
supply.
School, concrete roads and bridges and beautiful houses
are some proofs of progress happening in Sto. Domingo.
8. The heirs of Don Vicente Taaca initiated that the
barangay shall have its own barangay school. That is why
on August 12, 1971, a 4,437 sq. meter lot was donated
by Don Vicente Taaca and established Vicente Taaca
Memorial School named in honor of the donor.
9. Their religious affiliations are 95% Roman Catholic, 0.5%
Iglesia Ni Cristo, 0.5% Islam and other religious affiliation
are 4%.
10. At present, progress can be seen in the barangay. Different
infrastructures were build like concrete roads and bridges to
make transportation more accessible. Construction of new and
beautiful houses is also evident in the barangay which denotes
progress to the life of the community members.
Since 2013, the barangay facilities such as the health
center, daycare center, reading center and Gabay sa
Mamamayan Aksyon center are fully functional and
operational.
It was established as an independent barangay and from
then on development in the barangay as well as the way of
living of the people has improved.
