• “Bid’ah adalah mengerjakan sesuatu yang
tidak pernah dikenal (terjadi) pada masa
Rasulullah ”. (Qawa’id al-Ahkam fi

• “Bid’ah (muhdatsat) ada dua macam; pertama, sesuatu yang
baru yang menyalahi al-Qur’an atau Sunnah atau Ijma’, dan
itu disebut bid’ah dhalalah (tersesat). Kedua, sesuatu yang
baru dalam kebaikan yang tidak menyalahi al-Qur’an, Sunnah
dan Ijma’ dan itu disebut bid’ah yang tidak tercela”. (Al-

• “Secara bahasa, bid’ah adalah sesuatu yang dikerjakan tanpa mengikuti
contoh sebelumnya. Dalam syara’, bid’ah diucapkan sebagai lawan
sunnah, sehingga bid’ah itu pasti tercela. Sebenarnya, apabila bid’ah itu
masuk dalam naungan sesuatu yang dianggap baik menurut syara’, maka
disebut bid’ah hasanah. Bila masuk dalam naungan sesuatu yang dianggap
buruk menurut syara’, maka disebut bid’ah mustaqbahah (tercela). Bila
tidak masuk dalam naungan keduanya, maka menjadi bagian mubah
(boleh). Dan bid’ah itu dapat dibagi menjadi lima hukum.” (Fath al-Bari,
4/253).

“Hadits “semua bid’ah adalah sesat”, bersifat general, umum,
menyeluruh (tanpa terkecuali) dan dipagari dengan kata yang
menunjuk pada arti menyeluruh dan umum yang paling kuat
yaitu kata-kata “kull (seluruh)”. Apakah setelah ketetapan
menyeluruh ini, kita dibenarkan membagi bid’ah menjadi tiga
bagian, atau menjadi lima bagian? Selamanya, ini tidak akan
pernah benar.” (Muhammad bin Shalih al-‘Utsaimin, al-Ibda’
fi Kamal al-Syar’i wa Khathar al-Ibtida’, hal. 13).

“Di antara kaedah yang ditetapkan adalah bahwa perantara itu mengikuti hukum tujuannya. Jadi
perantara tujuan yang disyariatkan, juga disyariatkan. Perantara tujuan yang tidak
disyariatkan, juga tidak disyariatkan. Bahkan perantara tujuan yang diharamkan juga
diharamkan. Karena itu, pembangunan madrasah-madrasah, penyusunan ilmu pengetahuan
dan kitab-kitab, meskipun bid’ah yang belum pernah ada pada masa Rasulullah J dalam

memperoleh pahala yang sangat besar dengan melakukannya

“Al-Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal berkata: “Saya
mendoakan al-Imam al-Syafi’i dalam shalat saya
selama empat puluh tahun. Saya berdoa, “Ya Allah
ampunilah aku, kedua orang tuaku dan Muhammad
bin Idris al-Syafi’i.” (Al-Hafizh al-Baihaqi, Manaqib

( ،‫البيهقي‬ ‫الحافظ‬ ،‫الشافعي‬‫اإلمام‬‫مناقب‬ 1/469 .) • “Bid’ah (muhdatsat) ada dua macam; pertama, sesuatu yang baru yang menyalahi al-Qur’an atau Sunnah atau Ijma’, dan itu disebut bid’ah dhalalah (tersesat). Kedua, sesuatu yang baru dalam kebaikan yang tidak menyalahi al-Qur’an, Sunnah dan Ijma’ dan itu disebut bid’ah yang tidak tercela”. (Al- Baihaqi, Manaqib al-Syafi’i, 1/469).

Dalam syara’, bid’ah diucapkan sebagai lawan sunnah, sehingga bid’ah itu pasti tercela. Sebenarnya, apabila bid’ah itu masuk dalam naungan sesuatu yang dianggap baik menurut syara’, maka disebut bid’ah hasanah. Bila masuk dalam naungan sesuatu yang dianggap buruk menurut syara’, maka disebut bid’ah mustaqbahah (tercela). Bila tidak masuk dalam naungan keduanya, maka menjadi bagian mubah (boleh). Dan bid’ah itu dapat dibagi menjadi lima hukum.” (Fath al-Bari, 4/253).

Apakah setelah ketetapan menyeluruh ini, kita dibenarkan membagi bid’ah menjadi tiga bagian, atau menjadi lima bagian? Jadi perantara tujuan yang disyariatkan, juga disyariatkan. Perantara tujuan yang tidak disyariatkan, juga tidak disyariatkan. Bahkan perantara tujuan yang diharamkan juga diharamkan. Karena itu, pembangunan madrasah-madrasah, penyusunan ilmu pengetahuan dan kitab-kitab, meskipun bid’ah yang belum pernah ada pada masa Rasulullah J dalam bentuk seperti ini, namun ia bukan tujuan, melainkan hanya perantara, sedangkan hukum perantara mengikuti hukum tujuannya. Oleh karena itu, bila seorang membangun madrasah untuk mengajarkan ilmu yang diharamkan, maka membangunnya dihukumi haram. Bila ia membangun madrasah untuk mengajarkan syariat, maka membangunnya disyariatkan.” (Al- ‘Utsaimin, al-Ibda’ fi Kamal al-Syar’i wa Khathar al-Ibtida’, hal. 18-19).
