2013-2016: Director of Finance & Administration, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean
Sciences.
Responsible for all financial reporting including budgeting, cash management,
board relations, day to day financial operations and the annual audit.

2006-2013: Chief Financial Officer, Island Institute. Responsible for all financial
reporting including budgeting, cash management, board relations, day to day
financial operations and the annual audit.
Accomplishments:
• Brought the institute in on budget every year.
• Migrated compensation policies from annual raises to a cost of living
and bonus system
• Introduced a 403b retirement program
• Moved Archipelago ( the Institute’s retail store) from a loss to a profit
• Unitized the Institute’s $15 million dollar endowment holdings, updated
its investment policy and participated in hiring new investment
managers.
• Negotiated indirect rate for all the Institute’s federal grants.
• Instituted and managed the Institute’s Island and Coastal Innovation
Fund; a $2 million micro-loan and Federal Fishing Permit fund. Raised
the funds and administer the 2 LLCs under this program.
2004-2006: Owner of Mulberry Cottage Interiors, a retail store specializing in
European antiques.
2001-2003 Chief Financial Officer, Council on International Educational
Exchange. Responsible for all financial aspects of Council, which was a
$70,000,000 revenue not-for-profit organization owned by its member American
Colleges and Universities. Council provides international educational
experiences for students all over the world. Responsibilities included budgeting,
worldwide financial operations, banking relationships, financial statement
preparation, taxation issues in 10 countries and all treasury functions
2. including foreign exchange transactions in 6 currencies. In addition was the
corporate treasurer. Had fifteen direct reports.
Projects completed:
• Re-engineered and implemented central treasury functions world wide.
• Re-engineered US Accounts Receivable process
• Developed budgeting and management information system for $20
million division of the business
• Designed and implemented system to analyze and reconcile inter-
company accounts among 11 international divisions using 6 different
currencies.
1998-2001: Manager at Lazar Levine & Felix, CPAs. Specialized in litigation
support, forensic accounting, fraud investigations and tax accounting. In
addition I audited Fortune 500 companies for abandoned property on behalf of
41 states.
1998-2001: Donald Katz Associates, Public Accountants. Specialized in tax
work for small business and high income net worth clients.
1995-1998: Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Carole Korn Interiors,
Inc. CKI was one of the largest interior design/construction/architectural firms
in South Florida. Responsible for all analysis, budgeting and strategic planning.
In addition I was responsible for the day to day operations of a 50 employee
firm.
1989-1991: Vice President for Finance, Associates and Ferren. A&F provided
special effects for the entertainment industry. I was responsible for all aspects
of finance, including cash management, collections, credit line negotiations,
investment decisions and financial analysis. I developed policies and
procedures for financial reporting that allowed a “creativity” driven company to
present itself to outside suitors. Disney later acquired the company.
