Here’s the latest issue of our newsletter – the bulletin that’ll apprise you of the activities completed by our online learners and the virtual events observed by the school in the past 2 months. Our Chairperson Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan’s Happiness Mantra is a lovely message at the beginning of this report!
2. ART OF HAPPINESS
We are living in unprecedented times which will have historical
significance in the future. More than ever, we have to harness our
well-being and ensure increased motivation and engagement. Happiness
hinges on our acceptance of the unique learning experiences we face
on a daily basis.
Things will not get easier, simpler or better by waiting. Life will always
be complicated. We have to learn to live in the moment, in the present.
So be happy now or time will run out. Happiness is a conscious effort and
requires rewiring of our thought process. Everything happens for a reason.
In order to maintain a balance between our emotional and mental
well-being we have to actively adopt a new way of functioning.
Happiness is a state of mind that cannot be described in words but felt. How
can we be happy? Little things that can change our attitude and mind-frame
need to be enjoyed. Find ways to do things that will bring pleasure to your heart.
Let us be grateful for what we have and count our blessings. We can at
the end of the day recount what we are grateful for and appreciate that in
our lives. By writing them we convert our thoughts into reality.
Appreciation of the beauty and miracles in the present in our journey
called life helps dilute our problems. By acknowledging the present we
learn to cope with the other aspects in a positive frame of mind.
By becoming effective time managers and developing our skills of time
management we can de-stress ourselves by prioritizing our activities.
Focusing on a system that works for you will aid in reducing the mental
burden.
Keep an e-journal and put a picture that describes your day best. This
helps you to reflect on your present.
We can write positive statements for our friends and share it.
It would put a smile on their face and help us to connect with them.
This feeling from within, cannot be replaced by anything in the world.
So let us keep our circle positive, peaceful and loving. Let us maintain
focus on our passions, which in turn shall clear our head, heal our
heart and lift our spirits. A sure shot recipe for Happiness and Well-being.
4. READING IS FUN
Padlet with learners portions of reading
Comprehension Question and Answers done by Learner.
The learners started the unit “How we organize ourselves” through the story of “Miguel’s tomatoes”. The
story was split in two portions. One portion was taken up in UOI and the remaining was done as an English
lesson. The Jigsaw Reading Strategy adopted to ensure that learning is fun. The entire chapter was divided
so that individual readers could comprehend their part of the story. The learners read their own part and
explained the content to their peers. The students with excitement participated in the question and answers
session that followed. This activity was helpful in enhancing their thinking skills and made them effective
communicators.

10. CREATIVE EXPRESSIONS
Midnight Magic!
It is midnight now,
If not,
Turn the bow into a knot,
Make an appointment with the Wise,
He will give you some advice,
Sing yourself a jolly song,
And magically, you will go pong,
Go jump into the pool,
Because it's gonna make you cool,
Finish the book,
And make it look good!
- Ananya Bhutani,LS3
Communication is the Key
I left my house, heading towards the train station,
Just thinking about what my parents think about this
generation.
I saw 2 people having an awfully weird conversation
I just ignored them and hid my frustration.
I boarded the train to see everyone using their phones
It felt as if there were no people, only stones.
I accidentally bumped into someone and he groaned.
Why block your ears with earphones,
It won't hide what's happening to our ozone.
Conversations nowadays feel like walls
Just plain and white, I rather just fall
Why can’t we just be normal
And break this gap of communication
Only if we have enough dedication
We will be able to save this entire civilization.

13. FRIENDSHIPS DAY CELEBRATION
“Don’t walk in front of me… I may not follow
Don’t walk behind me… I may not lead
Walk beside me… just be my friend”
― Albert Camus
Friendship is one of the greatest bonds anyone can wish for. Friends are there by your side through
thick and thin. When the world seems bleak they hold your hand and help you overcome the difficult
patches.
It was first proposed in Paraguay in 1958. On 27 April 2011 the General Assembly of the United
Nations declared 30 July as official International Friendship Day.
To celebrate this special bond of love, caring and affection, Friendship day activities were conducted
on 31.07.2020. Students from LS1 – A2 participated and shared their creative work in the form of
posters and short messages on ‘Padlet’ for their friends whom they miss during the lockdown.
14. KARGIL DIWAS
WORLD POPULATION DAY
Kargil Diwas is celebrated on 26th July. It honors the Kargil war heroes for their unrelenting duty towards
the protection of the nation. It lasted for more than 60 days with loss of life on both sides of the border.
To commemorate this, Kargil Diwas was celebrated with a bouquet of activities by the students. The
first and foremost was to create an awareness about our martyrs and valiant soldiers, who gave up
their lives so that we can be free from the shackles of oppression.
The screening of a documentary ignited the spirit of patriotism in all. The reading of an emotional letter
written by an army martyr to his father made our eyes well up with tears. A gallery walk, of Kargil War
heroes, a quiz and the posters made by our students were the highlight of the day.
The main objective of this program was to make
students understand that “Excess of anything is
bad”. It applies to everything including population.
The event was established by the Governing
Council of the United Nations Development
Programme. The day was celebrated on 14th and
15th July, 2020 with great enthusiasm by the

nuclear family and joint family system, SDG’s Goal
and UN theme for raising awareness.

of IG1 Girik Agarwalla depicting the population rate,
rise/fall in global population, and the disadvantages
of population increase in the country. The students
also demonstrated a DTM Model showing the
stages and reason for rapid growth in population.
Students of A2 Ishita Bharti and Emaad Ali used
interactive map tool, www.Scribblemaps.com
and www.Natgeomaker to enlighten about the
statistics growing. The students presented their
views on Human rights and population footprint.

My journey as a Teacher
Teachers have three loves: love of learning, love of learners, and the love of bringing the first
two loves together. Being a teacher at Amity, has been a long but not at all a tiring journey. It
is quite strange that even after 20 years, I still feel rejuvenated, energetic and have
unstoppable quest to learn. Something surely must be in the air of Amity which peps me up
to be at my best even today. I have had the pleasure of being with preprimary most of the
teaching career. Honestly it was no less than a reward hearing from the parents that I was
the reason their ward came to school every day. I have been a firm believer that a ‘teacher
teaches from heart and not from books.’ I am not here in this profession to impart knowledge
that can be done through books, internet and other sources. I have tried to lend a helping
hand to the learner struggling to decipher alphabets written in his/her colorful page or give a
pat on back to his/her attempt to write for the first time.
All these years have taught me that my learners will learn only when they feel they are cared
for. I do not need to teach them but open their minds so that they can absorb learning from
their surroundings. My aim is to become what Maria Montessori says, “The greatest sign of a
success for a teacher is to be able to say- the children are now working as if I did not exist”
and I am sure I will achieve this only because I am an Amity teacher.
