Editor's Notes
Welcome to the Assistive Technology to Boost Your Reading and Writing Workshop
Here is a brain teaser to illustrate how we can in fact read a text even if the text is filled with spelling errors!
The text below is scrambled and depending on how advanced your brain is, your mind may be able to read the following text as if there were nothing wrong with it. If you can’t read it, don’t worry about it; it does not reflect upon your intelligence! “Those that can read the following teaser may have increased synaptic activity which allows them to operate above the average reader.” Read and Write Gold is equipped to correct many of the spelling errors found in this text.
Having R&W Gold read your text back to you could identify such mistakes and using spell check and advanced spell check would address the errors.

Content from email received:
Read and Write Gold - All students have access to RWG. In The Learning Curve, we can all happily make them a copy for free. They just need to bring in a USB for us to copy on to.
Alternate Formatting - If a student wants access to alternative formatting they must be registered with ADS. Even if we already have the textbook on file, we cannot share with the student unless it is part of their accommodations and the proper paperwork has been completed. If students want more information please connect them with their SSA or myself.
LiveScribe and Recording - Students must be registered with ADS and have recording as part of their accommodations in order to record or borrow the Livescribe pens or other devices. There are some students that will be using a cell phone to assist with their recording this year, which is new for a lot of people. Therefore, if any instructors express concerns or have questions please direct them to the student's SSA or myself.
Dragon Naturally Speaking - All students have access to Dragon on the LC computers. In The Learning Curve, we can all happily train them on how to use it.
