XO Lt. Commander know that the Cmdr. Mat Lazan‟s decision was against the
Rules of Engagement and it would compromise the secrecy of the submarine‟s
position as the Cmdr Mat Lazan informed him to send a signal to Narul HQ and
prepare to surface so as to intercept the illegal trawlers before they move out
into international waters. XO immediately informed the radio room to send out a
signal to MAKS reporting the contact. XO also did a great job as he brave
confront with his leader and advise him to please reconsider his instruction.
Well, T can see the XO has been a good subordinate even though he
challenged the authority of the captain of the shipby refusing to carry out his
command. The reason I think my answer is quiet good is because XO still
behave him and finished handle that ship till the end.

2. QUESTION 2
A leadership style called “transformational leadership” is often the most effective
approach to use. Transformational leaders have integrity, they inspire people
with a shared vision of the future. They set clear goals, they motivate people
towards these goals, they manage delivery and communicate well with their
team.
However, leadership is not “one size fits all” thing. Often, we must use the
leadership style. In this case, I think the leadership styles that Commander Mat
Lazan use is autocratic leadership that is an extreme form of transactional
leadership where leaders have a lot of power over their people. Staff and team
members have little opportunity to make suggestions, even if these would be in
the team. As we know, Commander Mat Lazim is a strict disciplinarian and a
performance driven manager. The example that shown Commander Mat Lazim
use an autocratic leadership style is when he decided to stamp his authority
from the word „go‟ and send a message to the crew that he is the boss and will
push them to the limit. Besides, he also shouted at his crew and publically
reprimanded him for being incapable of performing his task, relieved him of duty
and ordered that he be recertified.

3. QUESTION 3
The strategy that Cmdr. Mat Lazan must follow to ensure team cohesiveness is
team member selection. He should being careful of selection of team member.
When selecting team members, he as a leader or captain of the submarine ship
should care to pair his followers with peers so that they will work hand in hand
and always together weather the time is hard or easy. As PubliliusSyrus said
“where there is unity there is always victory”. In addition, this is to avoid the
uncooperatively matter in their team. Subsequently, the second strategy is an
objective identification. For teams function cohesively, all followers must clearly
understand the team views and targets. Cmdr. Mat Lazan should explain to his
followers for hows and whys the decision that he made. This is to ensure his
followers can follow his orders well. The next strategy that he must do is to keep
Communication is the key to success in team building. Cmdr. Mat Lazan who
oversee teams shold encourage his followers to indicate regularly with each
other. They may also develop methods to aid in their communication.

4. QUESTION 4
Nowadays, navy is one of the very important service in armed forces. This is because
they have to ensure the border especially the sea is always in safe condition from any
illegal activities such as piracy, intruders and so on. For your information, Malaysia also
have their own armed forces to make sure our country always in peace and safe. Even
though we have our own royal navy, we should do some changes to make sure our
armed forces become strongest among others. Here are some suggestions of
improvement for our royal navy.
Firstly, the technology of our submarine must be upgrade. As we all know, we already
have nine submarines which known as Scorpene class diesel electric but our
technology are still outdated. For example is our radar. The radar can detect enemies
only in a short distance about five to six kilometer. So, we have to make some
improvement for our radar so that it can detect wider scale up sixteen to twenty
kilometer. Besides, our missiles also must be updated or be more sophisticated. If now
our missile or torpedo can move about ninety kilometer far, we must have some missile
which can fly more far such as Sherbab missiles. Sherbab missile made by Iraq which
is can move about 250 km. That is why Israel and United State (US) cannot beat them
even they are the expert in the world. On the other hand, the radio communication. We
can upgrade the communication system. So that if they going to a deeper sea, they still
can communicate with the Head Quarters (HQ). This is a good benefit as the enemy
would not easily detect our presence.
The second point is cooperation with another team around the world. For instance, we
can join another navy‟s function. In example, if they have good weapons,
communication system and others exhibition, we must participate them. It is a gold
opportunity. Especially for our submariners because they will be exposed to a wide
experience. As the Albert Eistein said, the only source of knowledge is experience.
Simultaneously, these can improve the skills also a variety knowledge about
submarines. Moreover, we also can do exercise together with the top navy such as US
Navy or Navy Seal. In fact, Navy Seal is the strongest one one over the world. They
have complete and sufficient weapon and facilities such as carrier ship, many types of
submarines, battleship and others. If we can make cooperation with this “beast”, we can
