- Identifying the Use of Past Simple Tense in sentences related to vacation
activities.
- Becoming familiar with some regular verbs (play – played / listen to –
listened to/ watch – watched / climb- climbed, etc.)
- Practice Yes- No questions in past- tense using short dialogues.

2. 1. Warm – up: (10 minutes)
Teacher enters to the classroom. She greets to the students and
introduces herself: “Good morning dear students! My name is Miss
Janett Castillo and today we are going to learn something interesting”.
Teacher puts on the board a wallpaper which has a conceptual graph like
this:
Teacher asks students about different activities that they did during
“Summer Vacation” and she writes on the wallpaper what they are
saying.
Example:
Teacher: Ok students. Do you remember your summer vacation on
January and February? Which activities did you do ? For example, I
traveled (make the gesture of an airplane) to Cuzco. Some
volunteers please!!!
Student 1: I go to the beach!!!

3. Teacher: Ok,Going to the beach (write on the wallpaper)
Student 2: Watch TV
Teacher: Watching TV (write on the wallpaper)
Student 3: Listen to music

2. Presentation (20- 25 minutes)
Teacher shows Students pictures where some children are telling their activities
during summer vacation. Their activities (verbs) are underlined.

5. Teacher invites students to look the underlined words and ask them why
these words have “ED” at the end.
If some students answer: “Miss, because it’s PAST TENSE” , teacher only
confirms the answer but if nobody knows the answer, the explains the
grammar using the next picture.

6. Then Teacher explains how students could make Interrogative sentences
in the Past.
Teacher: Remember when Tom says “I played with friends”.
Students: Yes
Teacher: So, look how this sentence became a question.

Teacher explains that today (November
13th
) is PRESENT but before (October,
September, august, etc.) is PAST.
And when, we talked about the PAST,
some verbs changed to “ED”, like the
example. This is to make different the
past from the present.

7. Teacher explains that at the beginning of the questions, they have to use the
auxiliary verb DID, which indicates the PAST TENSE, then they have to add the
subject (Tom), the verb in regular form (play) and the complement (with
friends).
Also, she explains that every question has two answer (one positive and one
negative).

Teacher explains step by step how they could ask and answer.
3. Practice (5 minutes)
Now, teacher uses the images from the beginning to ask students. They have to
answer like the sample:
Example:
T : Look at the picture. Did Ana play on the beach?
S : Yes, she did
T: And, Did Mauro climb trees?
S: No, he didn’t.
4. Production: (5 minutes)
Students practice a short dialogue from their worksheet between pairs.
Student 1 asks: “Did you…?” and student 2 answers: “Yes, I did”/ “No, I
didn’t”.

8. If the first question is “Yes…”, the student who asks ,writes the same answer
on the related sections. If it is “No…”, the student writes “No”.
