How Do You Measure Your Building Interior?
Topics: Find out why chartered surveyors around the world are adopting this game changing technology from the ZEB1.
3. How it Works
Walk & Scan with ZEB1
Measure >43,000 pts/sec
Process in GeoSLAM Cloud
Using SLAM Software
Cloud-to-cloud registration
Download Point Cloud
Pay-as-you-go
Eliminate up-front costs
Dedicated Support Service
5. Point Cloud Generation
• Because of the nature of the technology that the ZEB1 mobile
laser scanner uses, that being SLAM – Simultaneous Localization
and Mapping, the raw data captured needs to be processed on
GeoSLAM’s intelligent point cloud generation servers.
• A point cloud data generation fee is then paid before the data
download
– Uses GeoSLAM Data Processing Credits
– 1 Credit = 2m3 of unique trajectory walked while scanning
– Multiple passes through same credit cube will only consume 1 credit
6. 1 Credit Unit = 2m3
1 Credit Unit = €0.40
Ex. 198m scan = 99 credits = €39.60
Data Processing Calculation
10 000 credit
bundle = $1,550
That’s 20 000 m
or 20 km of
scanning
7. GeoSLAM Uploader App
• Upload the RAW scanned data onto the processing server:

Upload RAW scan data; then
download processed data
8. Typical Scanning Applications
Measured Building Surveys Real Estate Valuations Underground Mining Stockpile Measurement
Construction Site Inspection Forestry Analysis Contingency Planning Crime Scene Recording
9. Building Surveys
• Measured Building Survey
– Gross Internal Floor Area = 370m2
– Two story building with 14 rooms double-height workshop
– Scan time with ZEB1 = 15 minutes
– Measurement points collected = 25,000,000
– Point Cloud size on disk = 43MB
– Data Processing Credits consumed = 30
– Cost to process and download = €12
11. Real Estate Fool Plans
• Rapidly create a CAD or BIM building model from ZEB1 scans for updating or valuations
12. COWI Measures Building Plans

13. Benefits
• Dramatically enhanced collection economics
– 10x faster survey time onsite
– Lower staff costs + Low-cost processing
• Appropriately accurate data quality
– 0.1% average deviation
• Better Quality Survey Data
– Reduced risk of survey omissions
“ZEB1 is changing the way we survey buildings. We can now measure building plans 10-times
faster than we used to with Total Station of traditional survey equipment.”

14. Underground Mining
• Underground Mine Mapping – Below Image shows project of scanning an entire
Anglo American platinum mine’s declines and tunnelling.
• Total length of scanning – 18 940m ; amount of scans 95
16. Precise Offsetting
• Do a quick scan underground, and then do your offsetting measurements easily and
accurately above ground. Reducing the safety risks of surveyors time spent underground.
17. Roof bolts Support Inspection
• Audit your hanging wall supporting roof bolts
21. Forestry Management (cont.)
• Quickly determine the height of the biomass underneath the canopy, and detect
individual trees for management purposes
