3. Family and Friends
• Miranda’s parents are divorced.
• Felt as if Via’s family was her own family.
• Still feels as if August is her own brother.
• Zack is Miranda’s boyfriend.
• Ella is Miranda’s best friend.
• Doesn’t like when people talk about deformed
people.
• Is in her school’s play.(Our Town)
4. Major or Minor Character
• Miranda is a Minor Character because only some of the
important events happen around her.
• An example is Miranda changes the school play by telling
Mr. Davenport that they couldn't do the play about
deformed people because it would make Via’s her
parents think of her little brother that is deformed.
• Another example is Miranda gave up her part in the play
on opening night because she felt bad for Via because
she had become a different person but Via never
changed.
5. Static or Dynamic Character
• Miranda is a Dynamic Character because she changes in
the book after results of events.
• An example is Miranda started saying that she had a
deformed little brother after she told it as a lie in camp.
• When she started to become popular, she dyed her hair
pink and started to ignore Via.
• After the play Miranda became friends with Via again.
6. Round or Flat Character
• Miranda is a Round Character because the author
describes her well.
• An example is on pg.94 in the book Via wrote, “Miranda
looked so different: her hair was cut in this super-cute
bob that she'd dyed bright pink, of all things, and she was
wearing a striped tube top that (a) seemed way
inappropriate for school, and (b) that was totally not her
usual style.”
