2. There is a direct

is concentrated
mainly on the
reader as is all
aimed at the reader.
For my Front cover I was aiming for something very unique and eye catching. Also the
colour scheme was very important for me because, in my opinion this is the most
important element of the Magazine’s appearance as it is what will catch the readers
eye first. As you can see I got my inspiration for the layout of my product from Vibe
magazine. One of the first impressions I wanted to make to people when they read my
magazine was to give it a professional look, but also to make it look interesting and
stand out. For the masthead I used Bold Arial and coloured it red because red
represents action, confidence, courage, and vitality. This is exactly the vibe I wanted to
offer once my product was purchased. The artist in the middle is there to give a sense
of presence to the reader. You can tell by the way that the artist is looking at you
(serious face) that he means business. This will allow the reader to connect with the
magazine and hopefully relate to it.
3. The best media institution for my magazine would be would be Gold
key media because, they distribute throughout the UK and can get
my magazine around to many people in very short time. This media
institution is also well know for the amount of popular magazines
and newspapers it already distributes, and they all are successful.
Because of this success rate they have I believe that they will allow
my magazine to really get around to everyone and then hopefully
people enjoy reading it. Distributing is a very important part of the
promotional process. Although my magazine could be very
successful, it can not do this without the right distribution. This is
why I have chosen such a well know distributor. Also my magazine is
aimed at people in the UK and the U.S.A because this is where rap
and hip hop is particularly popular.
4. For my contents page I was inspired by Vibe magazine. They used space in
between each picture to give the contents page a professional look. Also I put my
main picture in the middle right hand side of the page because it is one of the main
stories in the magazine so, it will stand out to the reader. Also, the big ‘RAPHOOD’
heading at the top was inspired by a magazine called ‘ACEHOOD’. The main
effect Of this is to have a big impact on the reader as soon as
they turn the page and see ‘RAPHOOD’ in bold at the top
and next to in a smaller size the ‘CONTENTS PAGE’. This
had a good effect on me when I read the “VIBE”
magazine so, I used this idea on my product. Also the
layout of my product came from the ‘XXL’ contents page
layout, which consist of the heading at the top in bold,
then the images on the right, and finally the page numbers on
The left hand side. The dark black theme colour was used
contrast with the bright red and white colours on the
Magazine front cover.
5. My media product represents a certain group of people. Because
most of the music is about pain and sacrifice. So only a certain
group of people can relate to the music and content of my media
product. Never the less the magazine is aimed at a wide range of
people who can relate to the pain and honesty in the music. I created
RAPHOOD as a all round name in the rap genre, because I thought it
gave of a very ‘street’ vibe. Most of my inspiration came from places
like Vibe magazine and XXL because these are very similar to my
magazine. Some of these examples are shown.
6. The target audience for my product is very wide as
the music in my magazine. The audience can vary
but the intentional audience is people aged 13-30
because this age group is my prime group, as they
seem to enjoy the music more than others.
