Camp Cranium – Counselor in Training (C.I.T.) Program
Agenda for June 12th to June 15th 2012

                                    Introduction

Camp Cranium was founded upon the need for a Camp specifically designed to support
and provide a safe environment for children with brain injuries to experience Summer
Camp just like any other child. Children with head trauma often experience physical,
emotional and social challenges in their everyday lives, which can impact their self-
esteem, self-identity, and development. Even though awareness has been a major focus
in this community, it is essential to provide meaningful opportunities for children to
flourish and grow in a positive environment. Camp Cranium, a weeklong overnight
camp, embodies the principles of respect, acceptance, and love for each child.

Last year, Camp Cranium recognized that past campers wanted to participate as a Camp
Counselor role once they were old enough. Even though this can pose challenges, the
staff of Camp Cranium values the abilities of all therefore providing an adaptable and
engaging program to help support the transition from the role of camper to a counselor.
Passing on leadership is crucial to develop competent, engaged, and happy citizens
whom want to contribute positively to the community.

Purpose of the Counselor in Training Program

The Camp Cranium C.I.T. Program will have 45-minute sessions Tuesday, June 12th
through Thursday, June 14th (the specific time is TBD). On Friday, each participant will
be recognized at the Closing Ceremony about their participation in the program and
given certificates of completion.

During this time, participants will engage in interactive activities and dynamic
discussions. Each day will have a set agenda, but adaptation is available to meet the
needs of the participants. An evaluation process will comprise of a two-prong approach.
The first component will measure the effectiveness, strengths, weaknesses, and
enhancement proposals of this program for future participants. The second component
is an evaluation completed by the facilitator and the head counselor for each
participant. This is crucial in aiding the participants identify their strengths, while also
providing meaningful suggestions to enhance their leadership skills.

                                Expected Outcomes
