2. Concept of Essay
 Who the Balfa Brothers were.
 What their significance was to South Louisiana
and Cajun Music.
 What their significance was to the wider folk
music world.
 How they came to be well known and how their
popularity grew.

3. Problems Encoutered in Essay
 There was no particular biography written on the
Balfa Brothers.
 I did not have much prior knowledge on them
other than the fact they were a famous Cajun
Band.
 It was New Year’s Eve and while I was writing
everyone else throughout Dublin was partying. A
little intimidating for me and I wasn’t pushed on
writing in the hotel room without breaks.

4. How I Resolved these Problems
 I had a book my father (who is now deceased)
bought me on Amazon.co.uk. Its title was “South
to Louisiana – The Music of the Cajun Bayous” by
John Broven and had a lot of index references to
the Balfa Brothers. I found a lot of information in
that particular book.
 I took numerous breaks during writing such as
going out for a cigarrette and buying some
snacks in the D4 store .

5. What I Learned from this Experience
 I learned how to get references via index on
relevant information regarding the Balfa Brothers.
 I learned of the significance of this Cajun
Ensemble to the world of Cajun Music.
 I learned a lot on fulfiling a query in a book as to
what information was relevant and what was
irrelevant. Important skill to learn with a library
query.
 I learned how to picked up on reference skills.
