2. SAP BO BI 4.0:
let’s start with a review of some of the new naming conventions, and a few of the key changes:
• SAP Business Objects Enterprise will now be known as SAP Business Objects Business
Intelligence Platform
• InfoView will now be referred to as the BI Launch Pad.
• SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence has been left with its current name – you may see it referred
to as SAP Business Objects Interactive Analysis.
• Business Objects Voyager is replaced by SAP Business Objects Advanced Analysis, a brand new
OLAP tool focusing on ad-hoc multi-dimensional analysis of data. The tool can be used either from the
desktop, as an Excel plug-in (edition for Microsoft Office) or as a web application (edition for OLAP)
• The Xcelsius name has now gone the way of the dinosaurs – the Enterprise tool will now be known as
SAP Business Objects Dashboards Design
• For small businesses, a standalone dashboard product will be available, called SAP Crystal Dashboard
Design. This product is available in 4 flavors – Departmental Edition, Viewing Option, Personal Edition
and Presentation Design
• SAP Crystal Reports remains with the same name.
• SAP Business Objects Explorer will also retain with the same name.
• The term Dashboard Builder has been replaced with BI Workspaces.
• Business Objects Designer will remain, but a significantly revised and updated new product named the
Information Design Tool is now also available for the creation of the semantic layer
• The Import Wizard will be replaced by the Upgrade Management Tool, for the purposes of migrating
content on to the new platform
