2. What is Genre?
Music genre are specific categories that identify pieces of music as they belong to
a shared tradition or a set of conventions. Music genre is a distinguished way to
identify a musical form/style.
3. Rock Genre
Rock genre is the music genre whereby they have electric guitars and a 4/4 beat.
Rock music was very dominant within the 60s to the 90s, however, hip hop took
over. Rock music is a large genre with many sub genres, for example, metal, blues,
alternative etc.
4. Club/Dance Genre
This genre of music was composed or played within social places, for example in a
nightclub, this became popular in the 70s. Similarly, dance music had sub genres
such as electronic, disco, techno and house music.
5. Pop Genre
Pop music is a subgenre of popular music whereby this is a song that would
produce the most hits. A hit song would sell many copies and be in the charts.
Usually, pop music has a good rhythm and catchy melody whereby people can
remember the song and it is easy to sing along to.
