The Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (PASYKAF) - Registered Charity no. 5 25 Established in 1986 by 21 patients with cancer, relatives and friends We developed into a specialist organization that carries out some of the palliative care activities in the whole island We are,  .
Improving and safeguarding the quality of life of cancer patients and their families Our Vision,  a society free of cancer .
Our Mission ,  to  provide supportive and palliative care services that improve the quality of life of cancer patients and their families at all stages of the disease to  educate through awareness programs and campaigns on  cancer prevention and early detection to   struggle for the improvement of cancer diagnostic treatment services and research in Cyprus .
International Union Against Cancer - UICC  Association of European Cancer Leagues - ECL  European  Cancer  Pati ent Coalition  - EC PC   European Association for Palliative Care - EAPC  European Oncology Nursing Society – EONS International Psycho-Oncology Society - IPOS In Cyprus , We participate at the Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre Board of Directors We cooperate closely with the Ministry of Education, Ministry o Health, Ministry of Labour and Social Services, Universities, the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, Municipalities and others with International and European associations We connect , .
The Norwegian Fund project –  “Our Children Matter Initiative” Lifelong Learning Programme – Education and Culture DG Grundtvig   “ Volunteering in Health Care – Training Program”  to EU and Local Projects  We participate , to Research programmes Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics – Epidemiology of Cancer in Cyprus Cyprus University of Technology – Research on Guided Imagery and Relaxation (Palliative Care – Alternative Pain control) Cyprus Open University – “ Home Care Palliative Service to cancer patients through the care givers eyes” .
We Care for all individuals diagnosed with cancer  40 00  +  cancer patients and their relatives receive care and services from PASYKAF per year PASYKAF Multidisciplinary Team: 55 full time employees and 15 associates, including 2 doctors, 20 nurses, 4 social workers, 10 psychologists, 10 physiotherapists, drivers, administrators and hundreds of volunteers A total offer of  €2. 20 0.000 .

Cyprus Facts  Population 850,000 25,000 registered cancer patients 2700 new patients per year (3% yearly increase) 1050 deaths per year  No National Health System in place yet However, free treatment for all cancer patients  Hospice and palliative care services are pioneered and provided by the voluntary sector only .
We depend on volunteers and sponsors: Fundraising Campaign    ‘ Together through life ’ Fundraising Events, sponsorships Donations, In memory Volunteer work Support to cancer patients Work to our Charity Shops Patients transport .
We depend on volunteers : Fundraising Campaign:  ‘ Together through life ’ Hundreds of volunteers including students, friends of the association, people from companies, community etc.  Organized by district  Fundraising Events Donations, In memory Volunteers at collection points .
We depend on volunteers: Volunteer work Easter and Christmas Sales  Office work (administrative, telephone, etc.)  Support to cancer patients – Social Care Special Training programs – for patients support Visits at the hospitals or at home Patients Transport Support at Activity Centres Work to our Charity Shops Majority of British expatriates at 6 PASYKAF shops .
Our Volunteer Groups Board of Directors: 14 Members and 3 alternates Local District Committees: Variations from District to District  Official Groups doing fundraising on behalf of PASYKAF Patient Support Working Group – Pafos  Coffee Morning Group – Paralimni  Various Groups at Larnaca and Limassol .
Strategic Objective on Volunteers: To substantially increase the support from our volunteers Attract more volunteers Properly utilize our volunteers Provide proper training to our volunteers Create new roles for our volunteers Celebrate together with our volunteers our successes .
