2. What is distance education or
distance learning?
Distance education is the education that takes place via
electronic media linking instructors and students who are not
together in a classroom . Students can study in their own time,
at the place of their choice (home, work or learning center), and
without face-to-face contact with a teacher. Technology is a
critical element of distance education

3.  The deference between distance learning or
education
I think the term distance education refers to intentional processes of
teaching and learning in which physical space separates instructors
and learners. Learners and instructors communicate through
various media, and an educational organization exists to design,
facilitate and evaluate the educational process. Distance learning is
a part of distance education. The term distance learning refers to
the use of educational materials or media by learners who are not
necessarily linked with an educational organization or engaged in
communication with an instructor. Also distance learning can be an
outcome of distance education processes, but it can also take place
without an active relationship between those doing the learning and
an educational agency

The invention of educational radio in the 1920s and
the advent of television in the 1940s created
important new forms of communication for use in
distance education. Educators used these new
technologies to broadcast educational programs to
millions of learners, thus extending learning
opportunities beyond the walls of conventional
teaching institutions.

computer conferencing on the World
Wide Web, where teachers and
students present text, pictures, audio,
and video. File sharing and
communications tools like email, chats,
social network websites and audio and
video conferencing are integral to the
Internet model.
