• 1. Why should you join the yearbook or newspaper staff?
• 2. Editor-in-ChiefYearbook
Yearbook is a very fun experience that gets you involved with the students in the school. You not only are involved in student activities but also community ones. Yearbook is a great leadership role. Yearbook looks very good on college applications and will put you ahead of your fellow classmates.
Anna Tatman
• 3. Managing EditorBusiness ManagerYearbook
Hayley Pence
Yearbook has been the class I enjoy taking the most because it keeps me involved in school functions. We are constantly interacting with all students throughout the high school. We all work as a team and have fun at the same time. Yearbook is not only designing spreads, it also involves selling ads and finding new ways to market our book. Join our team!!
• 4. Staff MemberYearbook
Jamie Tucker
Yearbook is a great class to take because if you are good at teamwork and responsibility then you will be just fine. Those two things are the thing you need to in yearbook and even life really. You become very close with all of the people in yearbook. It does not matter that much if you area boy or girl, but we have all girls right now. If you are good at these two things then you would be great for yearbook. Take Yearbook!!
• 5. Staff MemberYearbook
Yearbook is a great class to keep you updated and involved in our school activities. I love taking pictures and this class allows me to express myself.
Lydia Hahn
• 6. Staff MemberYearbook
Chelsey Robertson
Yearbook is so different from any other class. You experience the meaning of teamwork and responsibility, which are important qualities to have and things you will need to succeed in anything you do. So join Yearbook!!
• 7. Still not convinced?
Here are more responses from students on the yearbook and newspaper staff…
• 8. Staff MemberYearbook
You should join Yearbook because it is a way to express your creativity in a way for everyone to see. It requires a lot of teamwork and individual effort to create a yearbook that you want everyone to buy, if you think you have what we need, join us!  see you next year!
Kirby Eagle
• 9. Staff MemberYearbook
Yearbook is really about team work. We need a lot of it and it’s a blast. You get to create the yearbook, I find that more neat to design the yearbook rather then be in it. But you still end up being in the yearbook also. You become very close with all of the yearbook members. It does not matter whether your boy or girl it is so much fun in this classroom but you still take it seriously and still have a good time. Don’t forget about the parties, when we meet deadlines that are rough, we throw a little free day and those are always very interesting as well. Cant wait until we find out some new staff members.
Samantha Jelinek
• 10. Staff MemberYearbook
I think that you should join yearbook because its a lot of fun and it gets you a lot more involved with different people, and you get to learn and design your very own yearbook that every ones buys! And if you like photography you should also join yearbook, you get a lot of opportunities to take a lot of different pictures. 
Kendra Webb
• 11. Staff MemberYearbook
I think that you should join yearbook because it is a fun experience and because you get to use a lot of technology, like computers, InDesign, Photoshop, Canon cameras and many other things. In yearbook you get to design pages and put fun pictures on the page that you and your other classmates would agree that students would like to see years from now. You get to capture all of the years greatest moments and put them into a book for your peers to remember years after they graduate from high school.
Hannah O’Hara
• 12. Want to sign up yet?
If so, ask Ms. Kennon how to get enrolled!
If not, keep watching!
• 13. Staff Member Yearbook
I joined yearbook because I wanted to be a part of something and to help on something that everyone will hopefully have for a long time. Plus, it’s fun.
Hailey Elliott
• 14. Staff MemberYearbook
Why should a 8th grader take Yearbook? Because it’s awesome! There is always stuff to do and you can always use yearbook as an excuse to take photos.
Stephanie Murphy
• 15. News EditorThe Bear
You should take Journalism I next year because it is a lot of fun! Not only is it that, but it also improves your writing skills immensely. After taking Journalism I, you can join Journalism II and become a member on The Bear staff. Hope to see you there!
Annie Whiteside
• 16. Opinion EditorCopy EditorThe Bear
Liz McCrory
If I had to give any advice to a freshman coming in to high school it would be for them to take Journalism I and join The Bear staff. On the staff you get to take pictures, layout pages and more often than not, you get to write stories about topics you really care about. You should definitely sign up for J1 because its one of the most beneficial classes you will ever take.
• 17. Graphics CoordinatorThe Bear
Journalism is a great opportunity to do something fun and fast paced. It gives you an outlet to reach out to the entire school and community and gives you a chance to get to know your peers. Even if you don’t like to write, there are so many other things one could do with photography and layout of pages. If you are looking for a great school activity, this is the one for you.
Megan O’Neil
• 18. Editor-in-ChiefThe Bear
Haley Hopkins
If I had any advice to give upcoming freshmen, it would be this: JOIN JOURNALISM. I wish someone would have advised me to take it as a freshman so I could have wrote for the paper all four years. It is a great way to get involved with the community and other students and there is no greater feeling than seeing your stories printed in a paper for all to see. I guarantee you will have a fun time! I hope you join so you can become part of The Bear!
• 19. Managing EditorFeature Co-EditorThe Bear
Being on the newspaper staff is a great experience! Whether you like to write or not, there are many other tasks that are a major part of The Bear. Taking pictures, copy editing, designing pages , designing graphics and selling ads are also all a huge part of our production. It is an awesome experience and prepares staff members for the real business world!
Bethany Harms
• 20. Want more reasons?
You got it!
• 21. A&E Co-editorThe Bear
Kiah Hall
I think you should take Journalism 1 because it is fun and you get to get involved with different things that you normally wouldn’t get involved in with other classes. It gives you a chance to interact with other students and be more social. Its fun, you get to take pictures, lay out pages, and write stories. So you should take this class because it is fun and you get to do different things.
• 22. Assistant Sports EditorThe Bear
You should join The Bear staff because it is a fun experience and is very enjoyable. My favorite part is going to get interviews, and actually writing the stories is very fun.
So take it from me, this is the best class in the high school, so take it ok?
Will Seydel
• 23. Asst. Feature EditorThe Bear
Journalism is a class you want to take because you meet new people that you probably would not even normally talk to. It is a lot of fun and you learn something new everyday! It doesn’t really matter if you like to write because there are different things you can do on the staff.
Sarah Wall
• 24. Student Life EditorThe Bear
Cassie Lacina
You should enroll in Journalism I next year because it is a fun way to expand your comfort zone and meet new people. Journalism offers opportunities to get involved in activities you would not be involved in.
It is pretty much a student-run class and it is more like a part time job than an actual class. Taking photos and getting interviews lets you meet people you didn’t know before and also teaches you a lot about your subjects.
I highly recommend Journalism I next year as a way to reach out farther into the school and meet new and exciting people.
• 25. There is a lot to do and learn!
Just take it from these student-journalists…
• 26. Asst. News EditorThe Bear
I think you should take journalism because it helps you meet new people and the entire student body. You get to meet people you never thought you would be able to. Interviewing and laying out pages is my favorite part. You should join the Bear staff and have fun making a newspaper with the rest of the staff.
Sarah Fischer
• 27. PhotographerBusiness ManagerThe Bear
Journalism II is a class where you get to go out and experience all different types of student life!
Kristin Koppes
• 28. Sports EditorThe Bear
Travis Kaufman
Going into high school I never thought I would have been in a journalism class or on The Bear or yearbook staff. I decided to take Journalism 1 in the first semester of my junior year. It was the best decision I ever made. I was on the yearbook staff the following semester as a writer and I got the opportunity to write about and take pictures of some awesome things.
Senior year I switched to The Bear to get the opportunity to write and manage a page about something that I love. There is a lot of time and hard work that goes into a paper, but the final product is always worth the work. Plus its also cool to see the things that you write go into a newspaper.
My advice to you: TAKE JOURNALISM AND JOIN THE BEAR STFF!
