2. BACKGROUND
• Speaking skills or speaking skill is the ability to express
articulation sounds or words to form ideas, thoughts,
opinions, desires, or feelings of the conversational
partner.
• Aims generally speaking skills so that students are able
to communicate orally and fairly with their language
learning better.

The purpose of the test is to measure the ability of

oral communication.

• To measure the ability to speak, many ways or forms that can be
developed by teachers according to student ability levels, from the
most basic tests and simplest to the most complex forms of testing
and difficult.

5. Implementation Of Oral Test
• Nurkanca explains that the things that need attention in the
implementation of oral tests, among others, are as follows:
Teachers must remain aware that the purpose of the evaluation is to get
an overview of academic achievement attained by students.
Teachers do not yell at a student because the student gives an answer
that in the opinion of teachers is the answer "stupid“.
Do not also there is a tendency to help a student who was in the test
Prepare a plan to first answer the question as well as the score for each
question asked.
Organise scoring carefully to each answer given by the student.

6. What is required for Oral Test
• For Student
The images or photographs as aids students speak before they are
given the opportunity to speak to the situation given.
• For Teachers
Assessment format and scoring criteria as well as a recorder and
tape recordernya whenever possible.

Able to assess the ability and knowledge level of the students, attitude and
personality because it is done face to face.
For students who are relatively slow thinking ability so often experience
difficulty in understanding the problem statement, this form of testing can
help because learners can ask questions directly clarity in question.
Students can be argued.
Able to evaluate the ability of reasoning.
Can deepening material.
Cannot cheating
Test results can be directly known by learners.

How the assessment criteria in the oral test?
Assessment is based on the smoothness and accuracy in
answering parse problem
How to allocate time for the oral test?
If it is not possible to ask the students one by one, then it can be
done by asking each group. Where each group consists of 3 or 4
people.
How do I avoid subjectivity in oral test?
Assessment is still being done objectively by observing whether
the student can answer the important points of each question

• Based on the above it can be concluded that the
oral test can:
Develop students understanding
Developing the ability to think and make
decisions
Activate both sides of teachers and students.
