This document presents a framework for controlling video games using hand gestures. It discusses researching hand gesture recognition including hand anatomy and feature extraction techniques like edge detection. An algorithm is proposed for gesture recognition. The framework was tested under different light conditions and gesture detection rates were analyzed. Limitations are noted along with possibilities for future work, with the goal of creating an affordable gesture-based natural user interface solution.
