David Renton, Upper School Computer Science Teacher / Technology Integrator | Porter-Gaud School Unity in the Classroom for Creating VR Sims and Edugames The session will cover how Unity and C# can be used in the classroom to teach coding and digital design via the creation of games (including edugames) and Virtual Reality simulations. The presenter will share how he has used it in the past 2 years in the classroom and give examples of student work. He will also go over the hardware and software requirements, including how he has used the cheaper Mixed Reality headsets, from Microsoft partners such as HP and Lenovo, to develop for SteamVR, meaning the VR simulations will also run on HTC Vive. He will also have at least one Mixed Reality headset with him so that attendees can try out some of the student developed VR simulations at the end. We’re currently working on developing a series of stimulating design-based activities for children with learning/ developmental disabilities. Each of the interventions are not one-offs, but rather toolkits to help parents and teachers to make their own versions of the products that are being made, or are made to assist with issues on a more permanent basis.

Eco Home is a social strategy simulation game where the goal is to create the most efficient home, with the less ecological footprint keeping the inhabitants satisfied. To achieve this the player has to balance the energy consumption and waste generation with the overall happiness of the inhabitants.

4 pages APA SOURCES:3 By the beginning of the 1960s the United States had been indirectly engaged in Vietnam for some time. However, American involvement had been extremely limited. In 1964, with the Gulf of Tonkin resolution, the United States formally began to ramp up its commitment of troops. Even as the decision was being made there were doubts about whether this was the right choice for our country, and these doubts grew over time. In an essay of 1000 to 1500 words compare and contrast the key arguments in these documents for and against American intervention in Vietnam. Overall, which side do you think presents a better case? Please note that these documents are the primary sources you will use in constructing your essay. You may use brief quotes from the documents below to support your assertions, but be sure that your essay is primarily in your own words. The study here described had the aim of studying the effects of the interaction with videogames characterized by different modalities of graphic visualization (two-dimensional vs. three-dimensional) on presence and visuo‐ spatial competences. Participants were 129 adolescents (74 M and 55 F) aged 14– 18 years old (mean of age = 16.11; SD = 1.31), recruited in a high school in Northern Italy. Participants were instructed to use for a week on their home PC a specific videogame and were divided in five experimental conditions: 2D Tetris, 3D Tetris, 2D Adventure, 3D Adventure, control. Videogames provided to partic‐ ipants were chosen so to have a continuum in terms of complexity of graphics, complexity of interaction possibilities and degree of immersivity. At the end of the week of playing with the given videogame, participants were administered specific checklists for measuring the degree of presence experimented during the interaction with the videogame and their visuo-spatial performance. This results show that there is a strong and direct correlation between the degree of complexity, immersivity and cognitive demands of videogames and the level of presence conveyed. Results also show that some of the visuo-spatial abilities are progressive ...

This presentation supports my paper at ECGBL13. The central idea to the presentation is that making serious games that are reliably able to achieve their goal is really hard. Good theory tends to be at a very high level, whereas game design happens on a day to day basis at a much lower level. We need procedures and processes that can help designers bridge the gap between theory and practice. Cognitive Walkthrough is a well established UI process that helps UI designers to correct their mistaken assumptions and biases by scaffolding their thinking - but there is nothing magical about UI design. All interaction design requires the designer to think "like" another type of user. So I'm arguing that we should adapt Cognitive Walkthrough to support our game designers, particularly serious game designers. I also present one adaptation of Cognitive Walkthrough and use it to evaluate why very similar sections of one educational game differed greatly in their success.

From my 6 minute IGDA Scotland talk. Basic idea is too much (serious) game design is reinventing the wheel, based on rumour, speculation and it isn't good enough. We need to be evidence based. We need to share practice and we need design technique support to leave the alchemic approaches behind and become more dependable as designers.

With more memory available, system performance of three Dell devices increased, which can translate to a better user experience Conclusion When your system has plenty of RAM to meet your needs, you can efficiently access the applications and data you need to finish projects and to-do lists without sacrificing time and focus. Our test results show that with more memory available, three Dell PCs delivered better performance and took less time to complete the Procyon Office Productivity benchmark. These advantages translate to users being able to complete workflows more quickly and multitask more easily. Whether you need the mobility of the Latitude 5440, the creative capabilities of the Precision 3470, or the high performance of the OptiPlex Tower Plus 7010, configuring your system with more RAM can help keep processes running smoothly, enabling you to do more without compromising performance.
