The University of California Police Department, Berkeley, provides high-quality, professional crime prevention, protection, and law enforcement services to maintain and promote human safety and the security of property for the Berkeley campus and its associated locations.
The department facilitates the achievement of the academic, research, and public service missions of the University through its safety and security programs, the protection of individual rights, and reducing fear of crime.
This is accomplished through the direct provision of traditional law enforcement and emergency services and the design and delivery of pro-active educational, outreach and crime prevention programs for a broad and diverse campus community.
The University of California Police Department, Berkeley, provides these services, develops its programs, and trains its sworn and civilian staff with sensitivity to the unique concerns of the University and Berkeley community.

possible law enforcement services to the
Berkeley campus, to its students, faculty and

2. Night Safety
Our Community Service Officers,
are student employees that provide
safety escort services, (BearWalk),
to the community.
3. Together with Parking and Transportation, we have adopted
technology to improve Night Safety Services. Our changes have
reduced wait times for BearWALK and increased ridership of the
Night Safety Shuttles, making more people safe.
