The O'Fallon Police Department held its largest Citizen Academy graduation with 27 individuals completing the eight-week program. The program, initiated three years ago with a handful of participants by Captain Mark Berry, has grown significantly and received praise from police chief Eric Van Hook and academy graduates. The graduates learned about various aspects of law enforcement through activities like ride-alongs and firearms training. Police chief Van Hook and academy organizers hope to continue expanding the program to give citizens a better understanding of police work.
