2. Homage
• There is much homage throughout the music video. For example, the words that
come up on the screen such as “SMACK” and “WROOM” could be considered to be
an homage to different super hero movies and TV shows such as Batman, as it uses
the same type of writing and style they would use during fight scenes. Also there is
a part in which Lady Gaga is shown from the music video Paparazzi, making an
homage to her own music video. The ending of the music video is an homage to
the film “Thelma and Louise” in which they hold hands much like the two girls in
the movie do.
3. Narcissism
• In this scene, Lady Gaga is being
portrayed as admirable and
desirable with people around
her kissing her, and feeling her.
She is confident and narcissistic
as she shows this, and her
character agrees to being this
way.
• In this scene she is wearing
almost no clothes, and dancing
lustfully and sexually with other
women, showing her to be
proud and confident of her
image and even narcissistic with
how she presents it, having no
clothes on at one point.
• In this scene, the music video
again shows narcissism as Lady
Gaga is shown taking pictures of
Beyonce, showing narcissism
and vanity between the two of
them.
• There is much narcissism included within the music video. Lady Gaga portrays
herself as a lustful, sexy woman, mainly in scenes where she isn’t wearing much
clothing and is using different body language to show herself in a lustful way. She is
confident in doing this as for example in the scene in which she is in prison, she is
wearing barely any clothing and no clothing at one point. She is also shown kissing
some other people and allowing people to touch her, again showing narcissism.
