Storms!
A storm is coming!! A storm is coming!  Have you ever looked up at the sky?  Have you ever noticed really dark clouds?  That is a sign that a storm is coming!  You better get ready.
What is a storm? A storm occurs when there is a disturbance, or something bad, is happening in the atmosphere. A storm is coming!
Different types of storms… There are several different types of storms.  Thunderstorms bring bad lightening and thunder.  Sometimes it might bring a tornado or hail!  Blizzards bring blankets of snow, and a hurricane is a tropical storm that will bring heavy rains and strong winds.
A thunderstorm! Dark clouds are the first sign that a thunderstorm is coming.  You should soon hear the rumble of thunder and you will see lightening in the sky.  They look like bright white lines.  A thunderstorm might also bring rain.  Thunderstorms are dangerous!  You need to get inside quick! A storm is coming!
A tornado!! When there is a bad storm, you might hear strong winds.  That might be the sound of a tornado!  A tornado looks like a black funnel in the sky.  It is very dangerous.  Go inside where there are no windows.  Cover your head! A storm is coming!
Flood Watch! Sometimes storms bring heavy, heavy rains.  This might cause a flood.  A flood is where water builds up and floods areas where people live and drive.  Stay away from the water!  Get where it is safe. A storm is coming!
Blizzards!! When it is cold outside, storms can bring lots and lots of snow!  When the snow gets too deep, you call it a blizzard.  Stay inside and keep warm!! A storm is coming!
Hurricanes! Hurricanes are tropical storms that form over warm ocean water.  They even have names…one might even have your name!  Hurricanes move in a circle and bring heavy winds and rain.  Stay inside and help clean up after the hurricane has passed.
Storm Watch and Warnings A storm is coming! When it looks like there is a storm coming, turn on your TV or radio.  The weatherman will tell you if there is a storm watch or warning.  The weatherman will even show you where the storm is on a radar.  Can you find where you live on the radar?
Storms… A storm is coming!  Storms are can be very dangerous.  Keep safe by getting inside and listening to the weather.  If the storm gets too dangerous, get where there is no windows and take cover.  Never go outside when there is a storm!
