This document provides life insurance claim data for various Indian life insurers for the years 2008-09. It shows the number and amount of claims pending at the start of the year, new claims received during the year, total claims, claims paid, repudiated, and written back, and claims pending at the end of the year. The largest insurers were LIC, with over 130,000 claims pending, and ICICI Pru and Bajaj Allianz, with over 800 and 500 claims pending respectively among private insurers. Over 95% of claims were paid by LIC, while private insurers paid 70-90% of claims on average, with the remainder pending or repudiated.
