At the Geneva International Motor Show, Apple announced CarPlay iOS vehicle integration feature which will allow an iPhone to take over the dashboard of your car. This will allow users to run Siri voice, helping them gain access to navigation system, phone functions, messages and music.

Once connected with an iPhone compatible cars will enable access to these features via on board buttons. Some of the iOS Apps which a user can access include Maps, iPhone, Messages, music and Podcast.

Third party Apps like Beats Radio, iHeartRadio, Stitcher and Spotify will also be supported by this service. Apple is looking to support more Apps soon.

Users can now activate Siri voice control just by pressing a button on the steering wheel. Maps will allow users to easily find their destination and the shortest route to it.

The call function will enable users to make calls, return missed calls, listen to voice mails. Siri can also help in reading and writing messages.

One can also access iTunes Radio, and listen to his favourite music.

From this week onward CarPlay will be accessible in the vehicles from manufacturers like Honda, Ferrari, Jaguar, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo. While the future list will consist of brands like BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, KIA, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel etc.

This feature was originally launched last year at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) and was named iOS in the Car.
