Lesson will highlight whether having a role model is important or not.
I would also like to share why most Muslims take prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as our role-model.

example.

4. Our need for a role model:
◦ As human beings, it has been our nature to take examples from others
and make as our role models.
◦ Whether they are related to us, or not.
As human beings, it is our nature to:
1. Interact with others;
2. We are civic beings;
3. We need a family;
4. We are a community.

5. Who is the role model of Muslims?
Is he a role model for humanity?

6. O Prophet, indeed We have sent you as a witness and a bringer of
good tidings and a warner. And one who invites to Allah , by His
permission, and an illuminating lamp.
Quran, 33: 45 - 46
Prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings be upon him)
7. Learning through his examples.
After the migration to Yathrib, Prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings be upon him) established the Muslim community.
He then draw the outline that made the 1st constitution in human
history, which has:
1. secured the rights of minority religions;
2. signed treaty with neighboring tribes;
3. granted rights to foreigners and slaves;
4. condemned racism and nationalism;
5. live a healthy lifestyle by giving up alcohol, prostitutions, crime, etc.;
6. encouraged his followers to seek knowledge;
7. Etc.
Prophet Muhammad (peace and
blessings be upon him)
8. “Your Lord has commanded that you worship none but Him, and
that you be Kind to your parents. If one of them or both of them
reach old age with you, do not say a word of disrespect, or
scold them, but say a generous word to them. And act
humbly to them in mercy, and say, “My Lord, have mercy on
them, since they cared for me when I was small.”
Quran, 17: 23-24
Life Examples
9. It was reported by Abu Basra Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with
him) that when he was a non-believer, he came to Madinah and
stayed as a guest of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be
upon him). He drank milk from all his goats at night but the Prophet
(peace and blessings be upon him) did not say a word. That
night, he and all his family slept hungry.
Life Examples
10. But those who before them, had homes (in Medina) and had adopted the
Faith,- show their affection to such as came to them for refuge, and
entertain no desire in their hearts for things given to the (latter), but give
them preference over themselves, even though poverty was their (own lot).
And those saved from the covetousness of their own souls,- they are the
ones that achieve prosperity.

Life Examples
11. Allah‟s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) kissed Al-
Hasan ibn „Ali while Aqra‟ ibn Habis At-Tamim was sitting with him.
Al-Aqra‟ said: “I have ten children and have never kissed one of
them.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cast a look
at him and said:
“Whoever is not merciful to others will not be treated mercifully (by
Allah).”
