E-850 is a new water-borne adhesive resin developed for glue. It is strong, formaldehyde-free, and VOC-free. However, during application of a water-borne lacquer, delamination occurs at the edges of laminate materials bonded with E-850. The cause of the delamination is not the adhesive itself or any lacquer ingredient, but the water in the lacquer, which causes the already-bonded adhesive film to separate from the wood. The document requests help solving this delamination issue occurring during the drying process in order to unlock E-850's potential as a strong, environmentally-friendly adhesive. A €10,000 reward is offered for a solution.

What is adhesive? What is a resin?
Well, this tape is adhesive ;-) These are resins.

and so far, we cannot solve this..

dissolve in water
what we adhesive itself
Conclusion: The
tried and is not water sensitive
learned There is still adhesive present on the
two delaminated sides
ourselves Conclusion: Adhesion to wood
already is good enough
Delamination also occurs by applying
water instead of the lacquer
Conclusion: Water is responsible
for delamination, not an ingredient in
the lacquer
Delamination most probably does Without lacquer, the
mechanical properties of the
not occur during application laminate are good and
of the lacquer, but only during/ outperform current adhesives --
after drying. > the adhesive is strong enough
