Volcanoes are mountains with large holes called craters at the top that produce melted rock during eruptions. They form at boundaries between tectonic plates where one plate is pushed under another, allowing magma and gases to escape through vents in the crust during eruptions. The output from volcanoes can both create new land and impact the weather through emitted particles and gases.
