  • 2. This city wasn’t been originally named as Sofia. First, it was known as Sérdica.Later, as Triaditsa, Sredets, and finally, Sofia.In1832 it was conquered by the Ottoman Empire, that’s why Sofia has many mosques and turkish baths.The 17th of September is “The day of Sofia” , because it is the Christian date of Santa Sofia.   • 3. It’s located in the middle of the Balkans, west of Bulgaria, next to Mount Vitosha,in Sofia’s valley, surrounded by mountains.In the city we can find a river,called River Iskar.
  • 4. Bulgaria is a democratic republic and it’s actual president is Georgi Sedefchov Parvanov (Георги Седефчов Първанов)
  • 5. Sofia has a continental climate. The hottestmonth is August, and the coldest is January.It’s medium temperature is 10ºC in winter , and40ºC in summer.The best place to enjoyBulgaria’s summer is the “Black sea”.
