MAIN AXIS OF COLLECTIVE TRANSPORT OF THE BRASÍLIA
North Axis

NORTH CORRIDOR AXIS what problems to solve and what challenges to
confront
PROBLEM CHALLENGE
Fragment transport system
between managers
Interaction between agencies/exchange
of information in real time
System saturated at peak
hours
Road investment with priority treatment
for collective transport
Missing rules and procedures Develop a unified methodology for data
collection and decision-making
Superposition of bus lines/low
productivity
Improvement in the operating performance of
the buses and fare integration
Lack of priority for public
transportation
deploy a mass transport in exclusive via
Air pollution levels above
acceptable limits
Change in technology of urban bus

North Corridor Axis: (Planaltina/Sobradinho/Plano Piloto)
OBJECTIVE
The North axis will give greater
efficiency in the provision of public
transport services, by means of
collective integrated transport network
into operating regime in exclusive bus
lines, prioritizing the collective means of
transportation.
CHARACTERISTICS
•Increased system capacity
• Technological updating of equipment
• Reduction of maintenance costs;
• Increase in the number of passengers
transported, by increasing the area of
modal integration and transportation
(buses, bicycles, metro, parking lots).

The time is short - but keep calm and carry on
Achievements
The beginning to construct the North
Axis is a great victory
Failures
The construction of corridors is not
just engineering work, you must plan
in set with the bus operation
Lessons
The urban transport project should
be done with all actors involved. The
planning and management operation
of the corridor should be with no
major changes in the system of lines
that meets the bus passengers
