1. RF Switch System
Reliant SwitchTM for Better RF Testing
These days, RF switch & wireless devices have many signal paths between enter and
output ports that need to endure rigorous and complex screening. Therefore the use of
coaxial switch is important, allowing the user to easily switch between I/O ports and
staying away from the cumbersome task of getting to disconnect and re-connect RF
cables. Repeatability among port-to-port testing and repetitive tests across different
DUTs is critical; making that the life of the RF switch and its reliability essential.
Dow-Key Microwave switch offers launched a new product line which meets all these
critical functions. The Reliant SwitchTM is a 1x6 bidirectional coaxial switch with an
operating frequency through DC to 26. Five GHz, which covers the typical 6 GHz test
range and past for high-speed testing. This particular switch is designed with a higher
isolation of 100 dB (up to 4 GHz) to keep RF consistency between port-to-port
screenings. Moreover, the switch may sustain a guaranteed attachment loss
repeatability of zero. 03 dB across the whole frequency band. The RF switch has an
extended life cycle wherever each position can switch a minimum of 5-Million cycles,
which is a 5X improvement from a typical multi-position switch.
To meet a variety of test and measurement setups and signal switching configurations,
the Reliant SwitchTM is offered along with latching actuators, position signals, SMA
connectors and with 50-ohm 2W ended ports. The switch may operate both in break-
before-make (cold-switching) or even make-before-break (hot-switching) applications
and it has a switching speed of 15 ms. A variety of manage options are available,
including manipulating the switch with +24Vdc coils voltage, or using TTL or CAN bus
logic. For more sophisticated control options, the CAN bus interface can be
transformed into Ethernet or GPIB with RS-232 and USB controls with the addition of
externally a Dow-Key created controller board.
