The document proposes using atmospheric water generators (AWGs) to help address Santa Cruz's stage 3 water shortage emergency. It introduces two AWG devices - the Water Tower 40 for residential use and the Water Farm 3000 for commercial/municipal use. The Water Tower could generate 100,000 gallons/day if installed in 10,000 homes, while the Water Farm produces 3,000 gallons/day and could offset the city's planned $48M infrastructure spending. The proposal suggests rebate programs to incentivize their adoption.

To Whom It May Concern:
We at Dew Point, would like to firstly thank you for inviting us to present at your recent water exhibition. We
met some great people and have a much better understanding of Santa Cruz' water situation and needs. We
have since been working on presenting to you, an innovative and effective solution to the city’s water
problems: our brand of Atmospheric Water Generators. An Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG), is a
device that extracts water from humid ambient air. Water vapor in the air is condensed by cooling the air below
its “dew point”, exposing the air to desiccants, or pressurizing the air. Unlike a dehumidifier, an AWG is
designed to render the water potable.
This package includes a pro forma proposal on how AWGs can help solve the current water problems in Santa
Cruz. Please note that all of the data has been obtained from links and resources available at The City of
Santa Cruz’ official website.
Thank you and regards,

1. Status of the Water Situation in Santa Cruz & Review of Goals
On February 25, 2014 considering the extreme drought conditions, the City Council passed a resolution
declaring a Stage 3 Water Shortage Emergency within the City of Santa Cruz water service area. Stage 3 is a
level of water shortage requiring significant action by the community.
Taking into consideration:
• The city’s goal to reduce system-wide water use by 25% and help sustain the Loch Lomond reservoir,
• The large costs of maintaining and upgrading the Graham Hill & The Live Oak Water Treatment plants as
well as infrastructure such as the Newell Creek Pipeline and various pump stations.
• The city’s enforced water rationing for family residential accounts,
• The city’s scaled back water budgets for the irrigation industry,
• The city consumes water as follows:
• The city currently offers rebates for families and companies that purchase energy efficient appliances.
• The Water Department’s adopted mission is “To provide a safe, clean, and continuous supply of water for
municipal fire protection purposes that meets or exceeds local, State, and Federal standards for public
health and environmental quality, and to provide courteous, responsive, and efficient service in the most
cost-effective manner to our customers.”
• The city is raising its water rates and plans to spend almost $48 million dollars on repairs and maintenance
as per the chart on the next page

5. ATMOSPHERIC WATER GENERATORS
Our Atmospheric Water Generation (AWG) technology offers a solution that addresses these issues by tapping
into a source of clean water that is unlimited … the humidity in the air. The technology generates abundant
amounts of fresh clean drinking water right on the spot, to either store, or use and distribute right away. Our
machines would not only help save the city’s water maintenance costs and directly address the very goals set
forth by the city, it would also put Santa Cruz in the forefront of the global water discussion as a leader in find-ing
and using, a very efficient, and effective water harvesting technology to solve an array of environmental
and economic issues.
What’s more, Santa Cruz is located in an ideal location for AWG because of the perfect combination of heat
and humidity (relative humidity). Global Warming is a major factor in the decrease of available water resources
like the Loch Lomond & Newell Creek Reservoirs & San Lorenzo River. However, in our case, global warming
actually improves the performance of our machines, as they work best in hot and humid environments. There
is a lot of water in the air in Santa Cruz that can be harvested and used.
Our proposal will offer solutions for the Residential, Commercial, Agricultural industries as well as UCSC and
will address the four criteria put forth by your team:
1. Effectiveness
2. Practicability
3. Environmental Benefits
4. Local Economic Benefits

3.1 A Solution for the Families & Residents
The WATER TOWER 40 Rebate Program
“If 10,000 households in the city had these machines, there would be
a supply of 100,000 gallons of clean drinking water a day”
The City of Santa Cruz can offer their residents a rebate on the purchase of the Water Tower 40 to use as their
primary source of drinking and food preparation water at home. The average Santa Cruz resident uses
around 95 gallons of water per day, 61 of which are consumed at home. The goal is to reduce this by around
12 gallons (a 20% reduction based on the 20X2020 Water Conservation Plan put in place by Governor
Schwarzenegger). DEW POINT’s Water Tower generates 10 gallons daily with larger amounts on humid
days. While we were exhibiting at the recent water conference in Santa Cruz, our Water Tower 40 produced
10 gallons in one day. The city’s residents are currently rationing their water, and they represent 64% of the
water consumed by the entire city.
If 10,000 households in the city had these machines, there would be a supply of 100,000 gallons of clean
drinking water a day, without burdening any of the city’s aging water infrastructure and only spending less than
2 cents in electricity costs per Litre of water! Any unused water can also be diverted into a large 100 gallon
holding tank for later use. This would ease the burden off of Loch Lomond and help the goal to remain over
45% of its holding capacity.
Dew Point and the City of Santa Cruz will determine the rebate program details at a later time

3.2 A Solution for the Municipal Buildings & Local Businesses
The WATER FARM 3000
$48 million dollars …. can easily supply around 437 WATER FARMS supplying
467.5 million gallons of water to the city per year.
Commercial and Municipal water consumption accounts for 21% of all the water used in the City of Santa Cruz.
The Stage 3 Water Shortage situation has resulted in restrictions being put on businesses. We propose to in-stall
our WATER FARM 3000 series harvesters at all public buildings to provide clean water, heating and air
condition for daily use. This machine produces 3,000 gallons of fresh, clean, drinking water per day. That’s
over a million gallons of water per year from the air! That much water can allow businesses to water their
lawns more frequently and provide clean drinking water for everyone. The WATER FARM 3000 and can also
provide heating and air-conditioning for a 4,000 sq. ft. space. Furthermore, because our machines can oper-ate
off-grid, in case of a disaster situation a simple 6Hp gas motor can power the machine thus giving you a
source of water, heat and air-conditioning that is completely off grid. Average costs are less than 2 cents per
Litre of water. Any unused water can also be stored for later use. The overall affect would ease the burden off
of Loch Lomond and help the goal to remain over 45% of its holding capacity.
Please note that the city is planning on spending almost $48 million dollars in the next few years to upgrade
and maintain the existing water systems. As a comparison, this amount of money can easily supply around
437 WATER FARMS supplying 467.5 million gallons of water to the city per year. This water can be used for
anything including drinking, and remember, there would be no further costs on treating the water, or maintain-ing
such treatment plants and reservoirs. When people get used to drinking municipal water, it will help save
the residents’ costs on buying drinking bottle water.
Suggested Pubic buildings would include all office buildings, recreational, public education facilities, and
especially health care facilities.
The proposal two-fold: 1) For the city to purchase these machines for their municipal buildings to reduce the
burden on existing infrastructure, rivers, and lakes. We also propose to install these machines near or at the
Bay Street Reservoir where the new 6 million gallon tanks can be kept full and replenished without needing a
separate Water Treatment facility or Pipelines. 2) To subsidize the purchase of these units for businesses that
consume more than 1 million gallons of water per year.

10. ATMOSPHERIC WATER GENERATORS
3.3 A Solution for the University of California, Santa Cruz
The WATER FARM 3000 & WATER TOWER 40
UCSC’s water needs account for approximately 7% of all the water used in the City of Santa Cruz. With the
city’s Stage 3 Water Emergency taking effect on May 1, 2014, UCSC has been asked to reduce overall water
consumption by nearly 25 percent. Chancellor Blumenthal is taking the matter very seriously and the univer-sity’s
students and staff are involved in a very strong awareness and water conservation campaign, one that
would improve with the use of our WATER FARMs. The campus is currently reducing or eliminating irrigation
in the following areas: faculty/staff housing landscape and other campus ornamental lawns, landscape plants,
and playing fields. These areas can benefit from our machines. The campus is also giving maintenance priori-ty
to any reported water leaks, including HVAC mechanical systems.
Our WATER FARMS reduces the stress and maintenance of these systems and in fact, the HVAC upgrades
are an ideal opportunity to install our machines as they also provide heating and cooling. Just one of WATER
FARMs can produce more than a million gallons of water per year from the air without burdening the nearby
and very old Bay Street Reservoir. Furthermore, our WATER TOWER series machines can provide abundant
drinking water for all the residences, staff rooms, and other facilities such as gym changing rooms, etc. Fur-thermore,
because our machines can operate off-grid, in case of a disaster situation a simple 6Hp gas motor
can power the machine thus giving you a source of water, heat and air-conditioning that is completely off grid.
Average costs are less than 2 cents per Litre of water. Any unused water can also be stored for later use.
The proposal is for the university to 1) purchase the WATER FARM 3000s for their use and for the city to subsi-dize
them for the university. 2) purchase the WATER TOWER 40s for use in their hallways, dorm and staff
rooms, gym washrooms, etc. and for the city to subsidize them.
How our proposals address the City’s Four Criteria
10
11. ATMOSPHERIC WATER GENERATORS
Effectiveness:
• All or any of the outlined proposals will immediately reduce the burden on Graham Hill & The Live Oak Water
Treatment plants as well as infrastructure such as the Newell Creek Pipeline, and Loch Lomond & Bay
Street Reservoirs.
• WATER TOWER 40 will provide chilled or hot water in an instant.
• Will immediately reduce costs on buy plastic bottles for drinking water and in turn help the environment even
more.
• WATER FARM 3000 provides Water, Air-Conditioning and Heating. This would immediately reduce the bur-den
on the city’s water infrastructure and also reduce overall energy costs for companies across the city.
• WATER FARM 3000 can be operated by any engine or motor. They can be powered by Alternative power
sources such as Solar, Bio-fuels, Natural Gas or Diesel generators.
• Emergency preparedness. A great solution for disaster relief. In case of a disaster situation all public build-ings
with the water farm machines can serve as disaster response centres which can supply clean water and
a comfortable climate control environment. Our Water Farm Units are designed to run off generators thus
giving you a source of water, heat and air-conditioning that is completely off grid.
• WATER FARM 3000 can make use of a perfect opportunity when companies are replacing old HVAC units.
Our units will not only offer a new HVAC but also abundant water supply as a new Free by-product!
• WATER TOWER 40 is electric powered and very efficient using less than 1000 Watts per day. This means,
one could very easily run this machine using solar panels.
• The water can be used not only for drinking but also can be connected to utilities if needed.
• Low Cost of Operation: A 18 HP gas motor can supply enough power to operate 3 WATER FARM 3000
Units, producing up to 11,600 gallons/per day and 16,000 Sq.ft of AC, & Heating).
• Little Maintenance Required: Besides general wear and tear there is very little maintenance.
• Long product cycle of 12-15 years with a very low start up cost for a machine that will generate drinking wa-ter
daily for that many years. Do it once and benefit for a long time.
• Very low operating costs of less than 2 cents in electricity bills per litre of water.
• Will also clean the air.
• Improves the health of the user by increasing water consumption.
• Six stage filtration system provides a great tasting safe drinking water.
• Can store excess water for later consumption.
• Student Accepted Water Source: The students of UCSC will easily adopt to this technology and can stand to
learn more about advancements in water technologies.
• A great opportunity for education in the university. Different faculties such as engineering, environmental
studies, economics, etc. can come together to further learn or develop the technology.
Practicability:
• WATER TOWER 40:
• Quick implementation. No assembly required. Plug it in and it works.
• No Maintenance costs. Less than $100/year for changing filters.
• Mobile. Simply roll it to any spot at home.
• This technology is weather resilient as it does not depend on rainfall.
• The harvested water is extremely safe and clean.
• The original water source, the humidity in the air, is unlimited and renewable.
• WATER FARM 3000:
• Can be easily installed on roof-tops or warehouses eliminating the need to pump water upwards.
• Since water rights are not required the installation process can start immediately
• Mobile and can work off-grid.
11
12. ATMOSPHERIC WATER GENERATORS
Environmental Benefits:
• The technology has near zero eco impact and carbon footprint.
• Zero Disturbance to the Water Eco System: No water is taken from any lake, river or aquifer and does not
impact the fish habitat. This is a direct benefit to the Loch Lomond Reservoir.
• Zero Chemicals: AWG does not require any expensive dangerous chemicals to operate.
• Zero Toxic By-products: AWG doesn’t produce any toxic by-products that need expensive disposal.
• Zero Animals Harmed During Harvesting: Our technology does not harm any aquatic animals during harvest-ing.
• Zero LandRight / WaterRight Disputes: It does not draw water from land based aquifers, rivers and lakes and
so does not infringe on any entities rights or property.
• The original water source, the humidity in the air, is unlimited and renewable and does not cost the environ-ment
or the economy anything.
• These machines could easily eliminate the need for plastic bottled water as they produce more than enough
drinking water every day.
• Replacing and transporting of the 5 Gallon Spring Water bottles uses a lot of petrol. With the Water Tower,
there would be no need to replace those jugs. There is always water available.
• Relieving pressure on the city's other water sources.
Local Economic Benefits:
“very real possibility of Dew Point setting up a assembly, warehousing and sales
operation in Santa Cruz”
The potential benefits to the local economy are vast and have few limits. The in-flux of any innovative and new
technology into a region inherently helps the economy as it generates the need for relevant employment and
possibly new businesses opening up. As an example, even though the initial stages of the project would in-volve
direct delivery as ordered from our facility in Canada, there is a very real possibility of Dew Point setting
up a assembly, warehousing and sales operation in Santa Cruz. This would stand to generate a lot of econom-ic
benefits when the word spreads about AWG in the rest of the state of California. There is also a possibility of
course, of an assembly plant in Santa Cruz. To that point we must first assess how such a project would affect
any increases in the cost per unit for our products arising from higher labor, facilities, energy and other costs,
as well as applicable California State Taxes, and long term strategic planning, and logistics. When we arrive at
a point when it is cost effective and that there is a long term viable business opportunity that makes sense, set-ting
up such an assembly plant would be a very viable possibility, which would only generate more employ-ment.
As it is well recognized through out America, that the City of Santa Cruz is very proactive leader in addressing
our on-going environmental issues and taking progressive steps in solving our environmental problems. Many
communities will be watching Santa Cruz as you continue to find and implement real solutions. This project will
put Santa Cruz and Dew Point at the center of dialogue to the global water crisis. As well as drive the Eco-nomic
Growth of Santa Cruz and attract investment to your economy.
