Faster Reading Tips Reading Pacers To keep you from getting distracted and speed up as you read Use a 3x5 white index card to cover what you’ve already read from top of page to bottom Use your fingers: Right / left side pull : point your index finger next to the left or right side, slowly but continually move your finger down the side of the page. As you get more accustomed to this, try moving faster Two-finger pull : use your left index finger on the left of a sentence, your right index finger on the right, to frame the sentence and pull down Snake : Snake your middle index down the page Thumb : Use your thumb at the top or side of the page and go down

Increase Concentration Choose what to read Before you read anything ask yourself, “WHY am I reading this?” and “WHAT might I need this information for?” to determine your PURPOSE and RESPONSIBILITY Purpose: Why am I reading this? A test, a meeting, to sell my prospect, etc. If you can’t come up with a purpose or responsibility, don’t read it!
