1. Media Studies AS Film: ‘The Loser’ 4.) Who would be the audience for your media product?
2. During the process of designing and creating our film piece, we researched the type of individuals who we would class to be our target audience. Our target audience must have a sense of humour, enjoys watching comical productions and must also be able to relate what they see to their everyday life and surroundings. Male & Female College & University Students As our film is a comedy piece and includes young humour, we decided to make it for the following individuals: Multicultural Working Class
3. Due to our audience being of a younger generation, they would have a specific taste in entertainment, the first being: MUSIC At the beginning of our piece we have the song ‘Rock and Roll Singer’ by ACDC playing over the top of the picture. We used this as our target audience would be familiar with this type of music and so would be able to relate to the piece. Another category of music would be R&B – such as Kanye West and... They would also listen to indie music such as ‘The Arctic Monkeys’ Rock music ‘ACDC’
4. We got the idea for the majority of the humour in our film from the programme ‘The Inbetweeners’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvTgvEzpSzQ In this clip it shows similar humour that we use in our piece. For example, it shows the characters mocking one another over a girl – this is what the basis of our film is about, the boy liking the ‘pretty’ girl. Why does this relate to our target audience? . This is a popular TV show with the teenage age category and so they would be able to relate to the comedy in our piece. . It includes humour that they would be interested in and find amusing. Also, it shows the characters in the clip playing with a geeky, immature toy (the Frisbee) which is what the main character in our film would have an interest in due to being a ‘geek’. . SUPERBAD . LOSER . AMERICAN PIE . BACK TO THE FUTURE All these films are similar to ours as they carry the same storyline about the boy wanting the girl, and are all humorous. Also, they all appeal to the same aged audience as our own, therefore include the same selling points such as relative issues (sex, alcohol, humour), interesting storylines and appealing advertisements. Although ‘Back To The Future’ attracts an older audience too, it is about a fairly geeky boy who likes the much more attractive girl – like our own.
6. The next interest our target audience would have is: SHOPS Since there is a range of teenagers that could watch our production, it means that there is a range of shopping interests they would be familiar with.
