The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children between ages 3 to 18 who are living with life-threatening medical conditions. It aims to provide hope, strength and joy to these children through experiences like meeting celebrities, taking trips, receiving gifts, or role playing occupations. The foundation began in 1980 after 7-year-old James Grecius, who had leukemia, expressed a wish which inspired the nonprofit. It relies on volunteers and fundraising to make wishes come true for children through a four step process.

Wish Foundation” ?
Make-A-Wish has one simple aim:
– We grant the wishes of children aged
between 3 and 18 years living with life-
threatening medical conditions to enrich the
human experience with hope, strength and
joy.

3. What is a wish?
A “wish” is an answer to a child with a life
threatening illness’ question:
If you could have anything in the world;
Go anywhere;
Be or do anything;
What would you choose?
The opportunity to “make a wish” punctuates a dark
time in a child's life with a bright interlude that is
positive, hopeful and joyful.
These wishes can be anything from I want to
be a zoo-keeper to I want to have a 12th
birthday party
