  3. He was given new leadership And began to equip His people to fightIn hopes of defeating his rivals’ might
  4. He was beaten and captured To his enemies rapture But escaped in the nightVowing to come back and fight
  5. As his power grew Many people wanted it too He became KhaganThe supreme ruler named Chinggis Khan
  6. The Mongols excelled at warAnd at unsuspecting civilizations they tore Using hatchets, maces, and short bows Which they deftly threw at their foes
  7. Khan turned his clans willingness to fight Into an extraordinary Mongol might This led to the vast conquestOf territory to the north, south, east, and west
  8. Towns were reduced to rubble And people were killed if they gave any troubleMercy was shown to those who refused to refute But they were forced to pay a tribute
  9. They defeated the Chinese with relative easeUsing battering rams, catapults, and explosive balls Which they used to bring down the walls
  10. When the Mongols and Muslims finally decided to meet The Mongols used their tactic to feign defeat Needless to say they succeeded in their attack Of the Mongols no one can talk smack
  11. Though they may seem barbaric and cruel Chinggis Khan was no fool He valued religion and artAnd associated himself with the scholarly-smart
  12. During the final conquest of China he tried To take they capital Tangut, but he died His new successor was Ogedei his son But the Mongol empire was not done
  13. The empire continued to grow and expand And it became an extremely vast landThe Mongols went to Russia and influenced cities such as Moscow And positively impacted their economies. Wow!
  14. North, south, east, and west Many continents were affected by the Mongols conquestTheir rough exterior compared with an intelligent interior is a mystery Mongols will forever be a part of history
