2. DATA PROTECTION ACT
The Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) is an Act of Parliament of the
United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland which defines
UK law on the processing of data on identifiable living people. It is the
main piece of legislation that governs the protection of personal data
in the UK.
3. COMPUTER MISUSE ACT
The Computer Misuse Act is designed to protect computer users against wilful
attacks and theft of information. Offences under the act include hacking,
unauthorised access to computer systems and purposefully spreading malicious and
damaging software such as viruses. Unauthorised access to modify computers
include altering software and data, changing passwords and settings to prevent
others accessing the system, interfering with the normal operation of the system to
its detriment.
4. COPY RIGHT ACT
The current act is the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988. Rights
covered. The law gives the creators of literary, dramatic, musical, artistic
works, sound recordings, broadcasts, films and typographical arrangement of
published editions, rights to control the ways in which their material may be
used.
5. HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT
The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 (also referred to as HSWA, the
HSW Act, the 1974 Act or HASAWA) is the primary piece of legislation
covering occupational health and safety in Great Britain. The Health and
Safety Executive, with local authorities (and other enforcing authorities) is
responsible for enforcing the Act and a number of other Acts and Statutory
Instruments relevant to the working environment.
