2. World Wind Europa Challenge
• The Europa Challenge is an open opportunity for small teams of
university students to address needs of the European community.
• These project teams will consist of 3 to 5 university students.
• Each project team will decide on, design and build a spatial data
application that serves the European community and addresses
the INSPIRE Directive, http://inspire.jrc.ec.europa.eu/

3. What Is World Wind?
• World Wind, the 2009 NASA Software of the Year, is NASA’s
open source virtual globe technology for spatial data.
• World Wind is based on open standards, i.e., OGC WMS, and
can be configured to accommodate any desired data format.
• World Wind is freely utilized by the world’s space agencies,
local and national governments agencies, commercial industry,
including Fortune 100 companies, and others.

4. Why World Wind Europa Challenge?
• World Wind 3D visualization technology gives any application a
virtual globe world for building any functionality needed to
express, manipulate or analyze spatial data.
• World Wind, as open source technology, enhances competition
and spurs innovation, to accelerate development of solutions.
• World Wind increases social and economic benefit for the
world, similar to other ‘open’ data exchange standards, i.e.,
TCP/IP, WMS, GPS, etc.

Editor's Notes
World Wind provides the platform to visually manage satellite activity including analyses and delivery of satellite data.
We welcome the opportunity for the UN to describe the application they would like to see developed by our enterprising university students and if the UN wanted to offer any special incentives for that, we welcome the opportunity to increase the challenge with that.
