Editor's Notes
Social media must stress out IT people. That’s probably why they block so many.
And new “threats” keep getting created! It’s too much for IT to keep up with.
But fundraising is all about relationships. We need to get where the conversations are.
USM is already being talked about on Twitter
USM is already on LinkedIn
USM is already on YouTube. Even a USM prof!
In addition to joining conversations with prospects, fundraisers can use social media to keep track of conferences that they couldn’t afford to go to.
And conferences their donors might be going to
Twitter has been used for raising money. But not by nonprofits.
Social media isn’t a replacement to fundraising basics. It’s all about the relationships. But social media can really help us go where the relationships are.
