  • 2. In 1960, three young musicians from Liverpool, England created the Beatles. In 1962 another person joined the group. The Beatles were soon famous in the UK.

  • 6. On 11 February 1964, The Beatles’ first US concert took place in Washington. The concert generated intense excitement. The Americans loved their music.
  • 7. The Beatles’ concert in Shea Stadium in New York City. It was the first time in history that a large outdoor stadium had been used for such a purpose. It took only 17 minutes to sell all the tickets to the concert!
  • 8. The Beatles have had more number-one albums on the British charts and sold more singles in the UK. As of 2012 they have sold 177 million units in the US.
  • 9. The final announcement that the Beatles had broken up came in a McCartney press release in 1970.There were numerous causes for the Beatles' break-up.
