Benjamin Francis Leftwich is a 23 year old
singer songwriter hailing from York. His
music career has been active his 2006,
he’s signed with the label ‘Dirty Hit’
"Box of Stones" is a single off his debut
studio album Last Smoke Before the
Snowstorm (2011) It was released on 19
June 2011 as a digital download in the
United Kingdom. The song has peaked to
number 195 on the UK Singles Chart and
number 24 on the UK Indie Chart.

the song, being in sync helps the video
look tidy and is easy to follow.
The beginning and end shots of the
singer/songwriter playing the guitar is also
in time with the song which make it look
professional
Another example of synchronised visuals is
when the female characters jumps from a
tree and lands on the beat.

• This video contains no close ups of the
artists face, there’s one mid shot but his
face is barely visible due to the lighting
and camera angle. This could be used as a
motif across videos from this artist
though. As he doesn’t look directly into
the camera audiences could find it hard to
connect with him.
• There is no signs of the ‘male gaze’
where women are viewed as objects and

This video uses a variation of different
camera shots and angles to keep
audiences interested, this also keeps to
hold the video together since there is use
of techniques such as match on action.
There is also lots of variation in pace of
shots, they vary from being a couple of
seconds to 15.
All lighting used is bright and ambient,
however during performance scenes they
appear to have filmed later in the day and
