  12. Professors such as Dull are starting to see Wikipedia as an opportunity to educate a massive audience on the specialized topics their students research. Most college papers are read by a handful of people, at most, while a Wiki entry can be read by thousands (or millions) around the world. “ It’s the ability for students to feel that their works matters, that it doesn’t get trapped in the classroom,” said Adel Iskander, a Georgetown instructor who assigned Wiki entries in his graduate-level Arab media course. “We’re kind of challenging the academic establishment, in a way.”

  14. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Ambassadors/Courses/Spring_2011/Orthopedic_Injury_Evaluation_Techniques_II_%28Ray_Castle%29 Sophomore class – did basic writing on med procedures Found early on that little info was on WP about the tests they were learning about Gave students outlines for articles and rubrics Met some resistance from students in terms of wanting to learn WP editing (tech resistance and didn ’t really want to ask for help; may be an anomaly for this particular cohort of students) Students were required to use other resources beyond the textbook, but they were very resistant to that. Again, may have been specific to this anomaly.
