7. Culture of Honour
• Exo 20:12 "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a
long, full life in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
• Heb 13:4 Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one
another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are
immoral and those who commit adultery.
• 1Pe 3:7 In the same way you husbands must live with your
wives with the proper understanding that they are more
delicate than you. Treat them with respect, because they also
will receive, together with you, God's gift of life. Do this so that
nothing will interfere with your prayers.
8. Splitting the Atom
Mat 19:3 Some Pharisees came and
tried to trap Him with this question:
"Should a man be allowed to divorce
his wife for just any reason?” :4
"Haven't you read the Scriptures?"
Jesus replied. "They record that from
the beginning 'God made them male
and female.’ :5 And He said, 'This
explains why a man leaves his father
and mother and is joined to his wife,
and the two are united into one.’ :6
Since they are no longer two but one,
let no one split apart what God has
joined together."
If a family unit is likened to an atom then God along with the parents are the nucleus and the children are the electrons. The nucleus consists of the protons and neutrons that are bound together by a nuclear force. In God man and wife is bound together by a Godly nuclear force that creates a stable element around which children can gravitate.
What we honor determines our culture and behaviour. We honour what we value, Through honour we maintain the good from the past in order that we can build on it. Can you honour even when you are disapointed? Can you value the good and respect that which God has ordained even if it has failed you?
Three ways dishonour enters into families.
Rebellion
Immorality
Fission Fission is a way of splitting an atom into two smaller atoms. The two smaller atoms don't need as much energy to hold them together as the larger atom, so the extra energy is released as heat and radiation (http://www.fplsafetyworld.com/?ver=kkblue&utilid=fplforkids&id=16182).
In its essence, neutron bombardment is the bombarding of a material by (or with) neutrons. In an operating nuclear reactor, neutrons are being produced in the fission process. These neutrons bombard everything inside the reactor (http://www.answers.com/Q/What_is_neutron_bombardment)
Through the prophets, God emphasized three principles:
Marriage is sacred
God hates divorce
Marriage is designed to produce children of good character. (See Malachi 2:13-16)
Exo 20:12 "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Heb 13:4 Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.
1Pe 3:7 In the same way, you husbands must give honor to your wives. Treat your wife with understanding as you live together. She may be weaker than you are, but she is your equal partner in God's gift of new life. Treat her as you should so your prayers will not be hindered.
